Naviance - College Super Match
Every student at Beckman High School has access to Naviance to assist with College and Career planning. One of the most useful features of Naviance is the College module, which allows students to find schools that match their college preferences from a database of over 4,000 colleges. In the “SuperMatch” College Search link, students can develop their search parameters, including criteria important to them, such as size and geographic location of the college, major, student makeup, selectivity, and activities and programs offered on campus. Students can decide with their parents which qualities they may want in a college, and Naviance then generates a list of schools tailored specifically to their wants and needs in a college. The more criteria that a student specifies, the more tailored the college list Naviance will produce. After the list is generated, Naviance also rank orders the colleges on the student’s list based on how closely the college fits the student’s criteria. This feature gives students a keen sense of their best matches.

Beckman Science Olympiad Competes in its First Ever State Competition
On April 8th, the Beckman Science Olympiad team competed in the SoCal Science OIympiad State competition at CalTech against the top 31 schools who qualified state-wide. It was an eye-opening experience for all the students and coaches being able to see the elevated level of competition. Despite the tough competition, Beckman received 6 medal awards in 5 individual events and placed a respectable 17th out of 31 schools. As a club, we hope build on this experience and become a consistent powerhouse in the local scientific community.
