Dear Crownhill Families,
Crownhill is a magical place! This is thanks to our students, staff, and our families.
I have been a dedicated and committed Husky for twenty-eight years as a teacher, parent, coach, and principal. As your principal for the past nine years, I have had many great privileges. First and foremost I have been honored to be the lead learner and watch your child/ren grow confident, capable, and kind.
I have also been honored to guide and support an exemplary group of educators who put students first in every situation. They have adapted and excelled through adversity and a pandemic.
Last but not least, I have been honored to watch this community come together for our children. The families of our students have always shown up for the students, the teachers, and the community by doing everything from helping with homework and supporting the students at home to volunteering and participating in family events. Beyond our parent community and fabulous PTA, the community at large supports Crownhill through generous donations of time and materials, and supplies. The students, staff, and family have been the magic all and We have created an environment where students feel a strong sense of belonging and growing confidence.
I have been given the opportunity to lead a new school community in the Bremerton School District where I can share the lessons I have learned from Crownhill and continue to grow as a leader. I have accepted this exciting opportunity after much thought and reflection knowing that the magic of Crownhill will continue even in my absence.
Saying goodbye is never easy. However, I have full confidence in the shared mission and vision we have established here at Crownhill. I have been humbled by how the Crownhill community has embraced me as a leader, and I am so grateful for the people and ideas you have entrusted to my care.
I look forward to the rest of this school year and all the hard work, growth, and fun there is still to have. And, I look forward to watching the growth of our Crownhill students as they continue through the Bremerton School District and beyond. I expect great things and I am excited about your future!
With appreciation,
Teneka Morley-Short
