Note from Mrs. Lee
Dear Parents,
As we conclude 2021, and break for the winter holiday, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to all who help make Hairgrove an amazing place to be. It has been another challenging year due to the pandemic, but we remain a community with many gifts and talents, which we share daily with one another and most importantly, our students.
Parents, of course, are such a critical part of all we hope to accomplish on behalf of our Hairgrove Dolphins. I am grateful to you for doing what I know is the hardest, most rewarding and joyous job of all. Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gift.
I am grateful to our wonderful, talented, creative, inquisitive, and resilient students. Often, they make us smile or laugh, but they always make us think. Most of all, they make us better.
Of course, I believe the faces of our students best express the true meaning of this holiday season. They radiate a sense of enthusiasm, hope, and such a joy for life and the opportunities that await them.
To the parents and friends of the Hairgrove community, please have a safe and joyous holiday season!
Mrs. Lee
Winter Wonderland Party
Hairgrove will be having a Winter Wonderland Party on Friday, December 17th!
Students will enjoy individually wrapped treats, a drink and a craft that they will create during the party time.
The craft will be sent home for the entire family to enjoy.
Students are not permitted to bring or send treats or gifts to other students.
Due to the pandemic, we will not be allowing visitors to this event. We encourage all of our students to remain at school for the entire day and keep their same transportation.
Library News
The Scholastic Book Fair returns to the Hairgrove Library November 29-December 3! We're looking forward to seeing you at the book fair during the Family Night on December 2. Students will also have a shopping schedule during the school day. They can pay with cash or credit card by eWallet. A flyer went home detailing how you can set up an eWallet.
The mobile library will be at Chimney Hill Community Center, 13720 Smokey Trail on December 11 from 12:30-2:30. You can return these books to the Hairgrove Library. Hairgrove has been a top school at these mobile library opportunities; keep it up dolphins!
Math Matters!! (Math news for 2nd – 5th Grade)
Reflex Math is a program that will help your child become fluent in their math facts!
3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are working to become fluent in their multiplication facts.
2nd grade students are working to become fluent in their addition facts.
All Hairgrove students can play Reflex Math at home on a computer, tablet, or phone! We encourage your child to work to get their green light 3 times per week.
Car Riders
Safety is always our top priority. We are asking our car rider parents to please be aware of both our students and staff during car rider dismissal. To help with the traffic flow, we use a staff member to direct traffic between the two lanes. However, there have been several times that the staff member doing duty has felt unsafe. Please be aware that your foot remains on the break as your child enters the car and aware of other students and staff in the area. As a reminder, it is illegal to be on a cell phone in a school zone. We do not want any staff members or students to be hurt. Thank you so much for your support in this matter.
Music Notes
Singsations is practicing diligently for their upcoming program Jingle Jam. Only one more rehearsal, Wednesday, December 1!
The performance will be on Thursday, December 2 at 8:30a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Please be in the choir room at 5:30 to put on your costume. You’ve worked so hard, invite lots of friends and family to come hear your great performance.

Hello Parents,
Just a quick reminder, if you have not already, to please purchase your student a water jug to fill with water for activity in the gym, recess, cafeteria, and classroom. Students have access to water coolers throughout the building, including the gym.
Thanks for supporting our kids!

NURSE HALEY'S NEWS:
Tis the season for illnesses such as the Flu and colds. Here are a few reminders to stay healthy:
- Eating healthy
- Getting plenty of rest
- Exercising
- Drinking water
- Washing our hands
- Covering our cough and sneezes
Student’s need to stay home if they have any of the following (also found in District website):
Guidelines for Keeping Sick Children Home from School
A sick child who is unable to participate in school in a meaningful way should be kept home to rest and recover until symptoms resolve. Keeping a sick child home also protects other children, school staff, and visiting community members from contracting an illness that can be spread from person to person. Please be aware of the following guidelines for school attendance.
- Fever: A child must remain home with fever > 100° F and may only return after he/she has been fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medicine such as Tylenol or Motrin.
- Diarrhea/Vomiting: A child with diarrhea and/or vomiting must stay at home and may return to school only after being symptom-free for 24 hours.
- Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye): Following a diagnosis of pink eye, a child may return to school 24 hours after the first dose of prescribed medication has been administered.
- Rashes: Common infectious diseases with rashes are most contagious in the early stages. A child with a suspicious rash must stay at home and may return to school only after a health care provider has made a diagnosis and authorizes the child's return to school in writing or have symptoms resolved completely.
- Head Lice (Pediculosis): Students who have an active case of live lice may attend school only after treatment that removes all live lice. Head lice do not jump or fly and are most often contracted from head-to-head rubbing. Head lice are common in school-age children, so parents should routinely monitor children for live lice and teach them to avoid behaviors that spread lice.
If you take your child to a healthcare provider for an evaluation of illness or injury, please be sure to request a written letter stating when your child may return to school and any accommodations required upon his/her return.
A healthy school community requires parents and schools to partner with each other. To prevent/minimize local outbreaks of contagious disease, parents must keep children who have an illness that can be spread from person to person at home, and CFISD school nurses will exclude students with symptoms of a communicable illness from school attendance.
Friendly Reminder:
·
Students need to stay home for a fever of 100 and above. May return to school with doctor clearance or negative laboratory COVID-19 test result and fever free for 24 hours without a fever reducer.
Please continue to monitor your child for any COVID-19 symptoms. People can still test positive without fever. If any symptoms occur, please keep children home and contact me for any questions or concerns. Here is our LEAD safely link for reference. https://www.cfisd.net/domain/2305
If you would like to have your child wear a mask at school, please continue sending them with a mask and extra mask in their backpack.
Pre-K and Kindergarten student parents: Please continue sending an extra set of clean clothes in the student's backpack.
