Reader's Workshop

In reader's workshop we are working on retelling the story using the words: In the beginning, in the middle and at the end. We know that the beginning of the story is first and the characters and setting are introduced, the middle is the biggest chunk of the book and the end is the last part. Retelling is a difficult concept so please work with this at home as well. This will be a concept we will be working on the entire year!

Writer's Workshop

In writing we have worked on personal narratives - stories about something that has happened to us. We are also working on pattern books, such as I like..., I like..., I like... or like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See. The kids have loved writing so much, they are making their own books during free time. Thank you Izzy for sending more paper in to us!! We will take any donations all year long from anyone!

Math Workshop

We have been working on number sense which is recognizing the numbers and matching objects to those numbers. This week we just started with addition and will continue that all next week.

Homework this week is a family project. You are to decorate the family turkey and write about it. I realize that it isn't even Halloween yet but we want to have these on display in the hallway for November! You can send these in as you finish them.

Russell Farms Field Trip

We had a wonderful time at Russell Farms last week. They put on a great, educational field trip for us and we were all so excited to bring home a pumpkin. Here are a few pictures of our great time!
