Senior Award
Unfortunately, the following award was missed at Senior Awards Night, and we want to honor John Milia here. He received the award listed below and the short description of his achievement should have been read at that time. Please forgive this logistical error on our part.
Business Technology Award- Focus in Marketing
John Milia has weaved his way through the marketing classes over the years in his quiet but creative and inquisitive way. Taking Marketing & Sales, Advertising and Sports Marketing and finishing his Seaholm business focus with a finance angle in Personal Finance. He asks questions that show his passion for the subject area and applies his design skills creatively to class work. John takes what's he has learned and applies it outside of school to his own entrepreneurial goals. His marketing exploration at Seaholm has led him to his college path of studying Sports Management. His combination of marketing and business skills will serve him well at his next path at Grand Valley State!

Seaholm Graduation
- The Commencement Ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 12, 2022 at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre which is located at 2800 Atwater in downtown Detroit.
- Parking lots are located across from the amphitheatre and the cost is $10. Cash only.
- Seniors need to arrive AT 2 PM to begin the line-up process. The ceremony will begin at 3 PM.
- Seniors must arrive with their cap and gown on. There are no facilities for students to use to get dressed.
- Stoles, cords, and pins must be school approved/issued to be worn with the gowns. Caps may not be decorated.
- Seniors will be standing for some time during the line-up, the march in, and while waiting to cross the stage – WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES!
- The Aretha is on the riverfront so there will probably be a constant breeze. This can lower the air temperature in the pavilion by about 5 degrees and it will also affect your cap. Use bobby pins to keep it in place. This is a universal tip!
- Be respectful on stage – allow the parents to take the pictures they have been waiting 18 years to take!
- On-stage antics slow down the ceremony AND they prevent your classmates and their families from hearing their name called. Let’s be mindful that everyone’s family wants to have this picture-perfect moment!
Additional Information
- There are no tickets needed for the Seaholm Commencement. Seating will be on a “first come, first seated” basis.
- This event will happen rain or shine.
- Families are kindly asked to leave the amphitheatre after the ceremony is completed so that the staff of The Aretha can prepare for their next event.
