Manavon Elementary School News
Weekly Update from Mrs. Spear 11- 11-21
Message from Mrs. Spear
On this Veterans Day, Manavon Elementary paid tribute to our veterans and service men and women. Each classroom viewed a short video to honor our military men and women followed by a live Zoom with a veteran and/or active service member. We are so grateful for their service!
You can view our Veterans Day Video by using this link.
Update: Our Manavon Blood Drive has been cancelled by the Red Cross. We know so many of our school community members and staff participate in this event and we are grateful every year. We are working with the Red Cross to find another date this year to hold a blood drive.

Manavon Cares: Holiday Giving Event
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Once again, with the help of our amazing school community, we will participate in the Manavon Cares Holiday Drive this year, an annual holiday tradition at Manavon. This is a voluntary school-wide project that allows each of us to share the excitement and joy of the upcoming holidays with families in our community who might otherwise not be able to enjoy the season.
This year, we have the privilege of adopting 15 families from our community to provide them with gifts and gift cards. We will be doing things a little differently this year, in an attempt to spread love and kindness, but not germs! If you would like to participate, we have several ways to contribute.
- First, you can choose to purchase items for the children of the adopted families by selecting a gift/s from the Manavon Cares Amazon Wishlist. If you choose to purchase an item/s from the Wishlist, please be sure to select the Manavon Cares Address for shipping, not your home address. That way, the item will go directly to our school, care of Mrs. Carolyn Ronayne, who will be sure to get the item to the family. Below is the link to the Wishlist. Please note that you are more than welcome to sign up for multiple gift items.

- If you prefer to send in a monetary donation, contributions will be used to purchase items such as requested gifts not available through the Amazon Wishlist, gift cards for older students, and wrapping paper for each family. With this second option, you can make a monetary donation via PayPal (see attached flyer for information).
If your family does wish to participate in this wonderful project, we encourage involving the children in whatever way possible so that they enjoy and appreciate the spirit of the project. Children often enjoy being part of the gift selection. We hope that it will be a rewarding experience that is equally beneficial to the gift givers and the families who receive the gifts.
All donations (monetary or ordering items directly from the wishlist are due by Monday, November 29th in order to accommodate possible longer shipping times this year. If you have any questions, please contact either Danielle Rhodes, Manavon Cares Coordinator, at drhodes0520@gmail.com or Carolyn Ronayne, School Counselor, at ronaynec@pasd.com or 484-927-5372. We thank you for your generosity, and wish you Happy Holidays!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Robyn Spear
Principal

November 19 at 7pm: Family Fun Night - Give and Get
We are excited to have Family Fun Night return in-person for an outdoor family fun night before the full blast of winter hits. Bring the family for this “Give and Get”, at Manavon Elementary Parking Lot.
The Home and School Association is focusing on how we can give to each of our students and families, while also giving back to the community.
What you will get, from attending:
*A treat from a local bakery, baked in a nut-free environment, and is a nut-free product.
*Supporting a local bakery – focusing on shopping local.
*Interacting with local police and fire fighters – always a fun time for kids and parents alike.
*Experience with character-look-alikes. Who just might be climbing on the police and fire trucks
for some picture opportunities? You have to come to find out 😊.
What are we, giving back to the community:
*we are collecting items for PACS for donations for our families in great need.
*we are collecting monetary donations for the fire departments who rely on donation
funding. It cost over $8000 just to dress one fire fighter and if you have been a victim of a fire,
or had a fire fighter respond to your home in the case of an emergency, you know how valuable
our volunteers are!
Get a treat and have a wonderful time. Give back to our community through donations to PACS and the monetary donations (Cash or checks) to the Fire departments. See you there!
