Hello Carus Community,

There are a lot of exciting things happening as we head towards spring! I hope that everyone has a fruitful conference this week and that families are able to enjoy the change of pace that spring break offers, next week. Looking forward to coming back and finishing our year strong!

The After School Program is right around the corner. If you think your student(s) might be interested in some after school enrichment this Spring, please see the details below...

The program will run April 10-May 3 on Mondays and Wednesdays right after school.

This year's class options are:

• Story Book Theatre (Mon & Wed, K - 2nd)
• Play Production (Mon &Wed, 3rd - 6th)
• Engineering(Wed only, K - 6th)

The Winter Ball was so much fun! It was great to see our Carus families together for fun outside of school.

Our next PTA family event is right around the corner. We are having a Movie Night at the Canby Cinema. The theater is reserved for Carus so we will have the entire theater to ourselves. While the time and date details are not official (many details are determined two weeks in advance by the theater), here are the details we do know and the tentative plan:

• Movie: Super Mario Bros.
• Tentative Date: Friday, April 14
• Time: The exact movie time is still unknown but it will be in the evening
• Who can come? Carus students and their families (Students must be accompanied by an adult)
• How many ticket are available? We will have a total of 210 tickets for sale. Once finalized, students will bring home ticket order forms and the first 210 to RSVP and pay will have a seat
• The cost will be around $7 per ticket (Movie ticket only, food and drinks will be available for purchase at the Canby Cinema)

There will be more details to come the week following Spring Break.

A great way to build connections with our kids is to check in with them about their school day. It gives them a chance to practice expressing themselves and develop skills in engaging in social conversations. Often when we ask, “How was your day?” We get answers like, “fine” or “I don’t know”. Here are some ideas of other questions you can ask to get them sharing more:

The Canby Ed Foundation is hosting a Technology 101 educational talk to help parents in understanding their children's reality and equip them to engage in social media, digital entertainment and tech in healthier ways. Information provided in English and Spanish. Find out more at canbyedfoundation.org.

Kinder Kick-offs are happening next month! Children who will be age 5+ by Sept. 1 are invited to imagine a day in the life of a kindergartner! Meet the teachers and principal, tour the school, and receive a welcome gift bag. Those interested in the Dual Language Immersion program can visit Trost Elementary School from 6-7 p.m. on April 11, and otherwise families can visit our school from 6-7 p.m. on April 18.
