Please complete the form for the possibility to be featured on our career bulletin board and a feature on the Seahawk News Show. All careers are important and valuable. 5th Grade Students ONLY: We are having the annual Yearbook Design Contest! See the flier below for details.
Student Transfers: If your child is on a Student Transfer, the window for applying has opened. A transfer must be completed each year. Through the summer, each school monitors enrollment and staffing which sometimes leads to grade levels being closed to transfers. Please ensure you complete your transfer process in a timely manner to ensure attendance at SES. Letters have been mailed to all families currently on a transfer.
If a Student Transfer Request is not submitted through ScribOrder (http://calvertmdc.scriborder.com) for the 2024-2025 school year, the student will return to their “home school” at the time of rollover. Please remember to complete the transfer in a timely manner (by spring/before summer break) when we make staffing decisions.
CCPS Budget: Dr. Townsel presented his proposed budget Thursday evening. However, on Friday, CCPS received word that state aid would be decreased by 22 million dollars. This will have a significant impact on the overall budget especially if funding remains the same as last year. A tentative date has been set for a work session on the budget on February 14 at 2PM.
If you would like to see his presentation prior to the news of the funding decrease, you may go to Jan 25, 2024 Board of Education - Calvert County Public Schools, MD (swagit.com) The Power Point is in the Agenda on the site, as well.

Counselor's Corner
From Ms. Hilton and Ms. Shade: January 27, 2024
· Our Character Trait of the Month of January is RESPONSIBILITY! We will continue to teach, emphasize, and reinforce the importance of being RESPONSIBLE throughout the month! Responsibility is also one of our 3 R school expectations and throughout the school year we focus on ways students can demonstrate responsibility throughout the school building. Consider discussing with your child ways they can demonstrate responsibility at home!
· Our classroom counseling lessons this month will align with our character trait of the month, and we will focus on RESPONSIBILITY!
· Congratulations to the PURPLE FLOCK for earning the most Splash Cash during the second marking period! The students in the following classes earned a fun “snow day” on 1/22: Mrs. Stith, Mrs. Fleming, Mrs. Goldsberry, Mrs. Wilde, Mrs. Jeffries, Mrs. Baker, and Mrs. Herrin. Keep working hard to demonstrate the 3 R’s and A—respectful, responsible, ready to learn, and accepting of differences!
· SES has joined with Friendship Community Baptist Church for our HeartFELT (Filling Empty Little Tummies) program. The HeartFELT program provides qualifying students with meals and snacks each weekend. If you would like more information or would like your child to participate in the HeartFELT program, please contact your student’s school counselor to sign up.
· Should your family need assistance with school supplies (now or during the school year), please contact your child's classroom teacher or counselor.
