The Musselwhite Memo
Happy Monday, AMS families! We made it! While there have certainly been challenges, this year have been amazing memories made as well. We are so thankful for the opportunity to teach your students and we look forward to seeing the amazing things they accomplish in the years to come!
As always, thank you for your ongoing support of AMS! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out! Remember to be the difference and have a great Bearcat day!
Bearcat-a-Palooza
Monday, May 23 - 7th Grade
8th Graders will follow their normal schedule - all day!
7th Graders will report to FLEX by 8:35 (instead of 1st Period). An announcement will be made to release students to the stadium - students will be seated on the field for the ceremony. Parents, if you are attending, please report directly to the AMS stadium and find a seat in the home side bleachers. At the conclusion of the ceremony, students will be released to participate in field day events.
We will have concessions, but shipping issues are affecting our ability to purchase bulk items. Therefore, we will have a limited supply of water and Power-Ade. We strongly recommend bringing a filled water bottle to start the day and supplementing as needed. We will offer Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and chips, snow cones, and frozen lemonade. We cannot accept large bills, so please bring small bills for the concession stand.
We will be at the stadium until around 12:30. At that time, students will return to 4th period and will follow their normal schedule. Parents, if you choose to take your student during Bearcat-a-palooza, you will sign-out with Mrs. Epley at the stadium gate. You must have your ID and students are only allowed to leave with adults on their authorized pick-up list.
Tuesday, May 24 - 8th Grade
We will run an alternative schedule on Tuesday (See Image Below)!
7th Graders will eat A or B Lunch - determined by their 3rd Period Class.
8th Graders will eat C or D Lunch - determined by their 5th Period Class.
However, 8th Graders will report to Flex at 8:35 (not 1st Period).

Aledo Reads
Aledo ISD is Proud to Kick-off Aledo Reads @ Home for Summer 2022!
Aledo ISD's summer reading initiative Aledo Reads @ Home begins May 30th!
Aledo Reads At Home is designed to prevent the summer slide through encouraging and motivating our students to read books of their choice throughout the summer.
AISD has developed a list of fiction and non-fiction title choices by grade level for students and families that would like suggestions of high- interest texts by grade level.
In an effort to encourage and promote summer reading, students that participate will be entered for a chance to win prizes throughout the summer. Once students finish reading a book they can submit a reading response to be entered into the drawing.

TxVSN Summer School Options
Aledo ISD is excited to offer summer school courses for the summer of 2022 through the Texas Virtual School Network (TxVSN). The TxVSN offers accredited high school courses to supplement regular instructional programs. The courses available this summer through TxVSN will only be for original credit, not re-taking classes that have previously been taken.
This web page offers additional information, an overview video, and links to complete the enrollment process for those who may be interested. The deadline to register for these online summer courses is May 26 (the last day of school). Feel free to reach out with any questions to your child's school counselor or to Scott Kessel, the TxVSN summer school contact, at either 817-441-5161 or skessel@aledoisd.org.
2022 Transportation and Child Nutrition Survey
Aledo ISD Parents: If your child utilizes AISD transportation and/or cafeteria services, please complete the 2022 Transportation and Child Nutrition Survey.
As we continue to work to better serve our Bearcat families, please take the time to fill out this survey. The answers to these questions will help us improve our services, and we appreciate you taking the time to respond.
As this is a combined survey, please only answer questions in the section that apply to you. If you feel like you need to fill out the form separately for each of your children, please do so.
Bearcats of Character - Fairness
Natalie is an excellent student. She has shown leadership in academics and extracurricular activities. She has high expectations for herself and models good character for all students at AMS. Her nominating teacher stated that she is empathetic, trustworthy, and treats all students equally with fairness and compassion. She is truly a difference maker at AMS and we look forward to seeing the amazing things she accomplishes in the years to come!
