Current Events
We have all seen and felt the effects of the horrible and unfortunate event that happened in Florida. It is natural for our students and staff to talk about it and how it made us feel. If your students bring up the subject in class, be a facilitator, listen, and guide the conversation from a neutral point of view. Be sure not to insert your own view or personal opinion. Handle it just as you would handle any political conversation at work, neutral. Handle this matter with care and if you have any questions let your supervisor know. We want to thank you for your continued awareness and reporting anything you think seems suspicious. We are keeping a close ear on the growing chatter of protests around our city and the nation. We will let you know more if anything changes. If you have any questions or concerns, see your supervisor. Our purpose is to be here for the students and our staff...that is what we will continue to do.
This week our students will be taking the TELPAS test. This is an important test and needs to be treated with the same importance as the STAAR test. Please be sure to tell your students to take this test seriously and to do their best. If you are proctoring a test, make sure you follow all security guidelines. We will more than likely have district personnel coming to see that everything is going smoothly. Our ILT an Dr. Leatherwood have worked hard to make sure everything is ready to go on Monday. Special thanks to Dr. Pickrom for assisting with the administration in Dr. Leatherwood's absence.
The library will be closed 2/26 to 3/9 due to TELPAS

Shout Outs!!
Shout out to Mr. Bailey for being our Mighty Cub of the Week!! Mr. Bailey holds his students accountable for their efforts and explains, always, the purpose and value of student work and how what we (teachers) do influences expected student outcome. Way to show your purpose, passion, and pride Mr. Bailey!
Do you have a "shout out" you would like to share with the staff? Send it to Mr. Lopez via e-mail or text! Subject line: Shout out!
Content Feature - Mathematics
While the Math Department is working on geometric relationships, SIOP strategies are implemented to meet the language and learning needs of students. Student engagement is demonstrated throughout the classes, i.e. standing and clapping while reciting the content and language objectives for the day, small group instruction, technology and partner work, and using concrete models all providing opportunities for students to apply learning in meaningful ways.
