Looking For Ways to Help?

Our awesome Wildcat families continue to ask what they can do to help others during this time. If you would like to assist others in our community in regards to COVID-19, food donations can be made to The Place of Forsyth County. A needs list, which also includes an Amazon ordering option, and drop off address are posted at https://www.theplaceofforsyth.org/

Financial donations to United Way of Forsyth County can be made at www.unitedwayforsyth.com/donatenow.

PTO Meeting Information

Our last General PTO Meeting of the year is on April 29th at 6:00 pm. This virtual meeting will be held via ZOOM (using this link.) We must have a minimum of 15 people in attendance to vote on our 2020/2021 slate of officers. You must attend the meeting to vote. If you would like to serve on the PTO Board you may nominate yourself from the floor.

IN NEED OF PARENT REPRESENTATIVES

As we plan for the 2020-2021 school year, we have important positions to fill on our Local School Council (LSC). The LSC is designed to bring parents and the community together with teachers and school administrators to foster mutual respect for each other’s concerns and share ideas for school improvement. We are currently seeking nominations for LSC Parent Representatives. Big Creek's LSC meets four times a year. Elected members serve a two-year term and may run for re-election once, thus serving a maximum of four years on the council.

According to the bylaws, the Parent Representative shall be elected by, and from among, the group they represent. Employees in the school who are also parents or guardians of students enrolled in the school are excluded from serving as parent representatives.

If you are interested in running for the Big Creek Local School Council, please email Mrs. Webb at lwebb@forsyth.k12.ga.us by May 1. Elections will be held electronically during the month of May.

K Registration Still Ongoing

If your child will be starting kindergarten in August, please make sure you have registered him/ her at the Hill Center. The number of teachers we will have for the 20-21 school year depends on the number of students registered BEFORE school starts. We also plan to have a virtual orientation for those families that have registered. It is best to register now even if you are missing some documentation. You can submit missing paperwork later. If you have a neighbor whose child is entering kindergarten, please let them know!!

Ms. Rounds also can arrange a Google Meet to speak directly to your child if you'd like. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to her if you have any questions: krounds@forsyth.k12.ga.us! Make sure to "like" the Forsyth County Schools Facebook page to received updated tips also.

Here are some additional links to give you more insight into Social and Emotional Learning and how to implement some of these skills at home.

What is Social and Emotional Learning? This short video introduces CASEL (the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) which helps to guide our district and the “soft skills” we’re teaching students.

SEL resources at home This is CASEL’s website where they have shared resources for how to talk to your kids about what’s going on, activities you can do at home, etc.

Is Your Child's Bus Driver THE BEST??

Does your driver do an amazing job taking care of your student and keeping him/her safe? May is Employee of the Month for the Transportation Department.

Visit the FCS website at: https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/page/801 and share why you feel your driver is deserving!

A Pollen Note From Nurse G

Hey there Wildcats, we have just completed week 3 staying healthy while working at home! Now it's time for a break, Spring Break that is! I hope the weather will be nice so everyone can enjoy some outside time, just remember all that pollen is still out there! Try not to rub your eyes or face while you are out there playing, it might rub the pollen into it and then your eyes might start to get really itchy and watery! If that happens just come inside and wash your hands with soap and water and then rinse your face off with only water. If your clothes are covered in it you may need to change clothes once you come inside too!

Here are is a good website to check the current pollen count:

If you would like a refresher, here is a great video from the CDC about good hand washing!

Is Your Student Moving?

If your student will not be enrolled in Forsyth County Schools for 2020-21, you may complete a refund form for any remaining cafeteria balances. The form must be completed and sent in to the county office for a refund. Access the form here.

For returning students, balances will roll over to next year and follow your student throughout the Forsyth County school system.
