TENTATIVE AGREEMENT REACHED!
The ATA Bargaining Team reached a tentative agreement (TA) for the 2022-2023 school year this morning. Getting a TA took several meetings and was a collective effort with ATA and the District. The Bargaining Team, led by Tammy Scorcia, spent countless hours reviewing budgets and comps, analyzing costs, and crafting an equitable agreement.
Access to the latest Bargaining Bulletin, which includes all details pertinent to the TA, can be obtained here.
Please plan to attend one of the following Q&A meetings:
- Tuesday, April 11th, from 3:15-3:45 PM, in person at the ATA Office
- Thursday, April 13th, from 5:00-5:30 PM, via Zoom, using this link
Online elections through Simply Voting for paying dues members on the TA will be held from April 17th through April 21st. Non-dues-paying members may join by April 15th to be eligible to vote.
ATA GENERAL ELECTION
Below you will find the names of those running for the different Board of Directors positions in ATA. Voting will occur online from April 17th - April 21st. You will receive an email from SimplyVoting, our secure, hosted online elections provider. Please make sure we have your correct personal email. It's not too late for non-paying dues members to vote. Email us ASAP so we can sign you up for membership.
The announcement of results will be on April 24th via this newsletter. If a run-off election is necessary, this will be included in the announcement with a run-off election timeline.
WHY I BELONG TO ATA
This week's spotlight is Isabel Dominguez, a Teacher and Department Chair for World Languages at Mark Keppel HS. Isabel was asked, "Why do you belong to ATA?" See her response below.

LOST ANY PLANNING TIME LATELY?
If you teach fourth through eighth grade and have missed preparation time, you may be entitled to financial compensation.
In order to receive compensation for missed prep time, there are some rules to follow, including the submission of the compensation form. Typically, the school office support staff can supply you with the form. The District is not required to initiate this submission, so be sure to take the time to ask for it. There are a few restrictions regarding when you are or are not entitled; however, submitting it is worth your time. For example, if you lose time because of a holiday that did not extend the whole week, your time lost will be determined by the amount of time generally scheduled on the day you missed.
The general rule of thumb is, "If in doubt, turn in the form." You will be reimbursed at the District hourly rate for the accumulated time lost at the end of each semester. Please work with your grade-level teams to ensure your accounting for all days.
