Soak up a great summer read!
As we embark on the summer season, I want to share some fantastic summer reading suggestions, details on how you can continue accessing ebooks from the Stinson Library throughout the summer, a few opportunities for expressing gratitude to your teachers, and a gentle reminder to return any borrowed books!
As we bid farewell to the 2023-2024 school year, I extend my heartfelt thanks to our students, their families, and the dedicated faculty and administration at Stinson. The past twelve years at Stinson have been the pinnacle of my educational journey. With this academic year drawing to a close, it also marks the end of my tenure at Stinson and in the field of education. I will be dedicating the upcoming school year to stay home with my own children and focus on my family.
I have treasured every moment spent here, forming connections with numerous families and their remarkable children. I encourage you all to embrace the joy of reading this summer and relish precious moments with your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Fosmire

Great Book Give Away May 2nd
What is the Great Book Giveaway?
Each year, over 10,000 new and gently used books have been distributed to over 1000 families for 3 years running!
Throughout the school year, Northside librarians collect gently used books and our generous sponsors donate new books to ensure that families who would like to have books in their homes do not go without. The students at Brennan High School do heavy work of bagging thousands of books that will be distributed at three Northside campuses: Brennan, Holmes, and O'Connor High Schools. Brennan, Holmes, and O'Connor students rally at the distribution in the spring, just in time to make sure that any student, grades PK-12, will have books to read during the summer.
Visit any of three locations: Brennan, Holmes, or O'Connor High Schools
Receive a bag of free new and gently used books for each child present.
You do not need to be a resident of Northside.
Books are available for school aged students in Pre-K-12th grades, as well as toddlers.
This event will be held Thursday, May 2nd, 2024 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6th- 10th
A little bit of history:
Political and educational leaders began discussions for a day to honor teachers in 1944. In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim National Teachers’ Day. Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May. The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.
An educator is any school member who inspires, influences, encourages, empowers, and supports students.
