Helpful Tech Tip

Parent Pointer - Tech Tip: Creating Bookmarks on the Chromebook

Help your child navigate to a video conferencing room with just a click of a button! To do this on the Parkway-issued student Chromebooks:

  1. Click on the teacher’s video conferencing link to get the web address.

  2. Highlight the star at the end of the web address to add it as a bookmark.

  3. Change the name of the bookmark to the teacher’s name or the subject.

  4. The icon with its name will appear below the web address.

Now all the student has to do is to click on the icon or name and he/she will go directly to the video conference. No need to click and search for the link in Schoology. Here’s a short video (less than a minute) to help guide you through the process. Good luck!

CALLING ALL CARMAN TRAILS SCOUTS!

Is your student a member of a Scout Troop and a Carman Trails Elementary student? We are looking for Scouts to take on the responsibility of raising and lowering the American flag outside of school every day, beginning the week of January 11, 2021.

If your troop is interested in taking on this project, we have a SignUp Genius link below for your use. We would appreciate having a minimum of 2 scouts each day. The sign up form is designated by Group 1, Group 2 and Virtual students. Please be sure the date selected for the student is a date they will be available at school that day (their Group day). For any Virtual students who are scouts, students will need to be driven to school in the morning to raise the flag and brought back to school at the end of the day to lower it.

We appreciate your help!

December Sustainable Schools Challenge

December: Environmental Justice

This month's mini challenges focus is on environmental justice! But what does that mean?

Environmental justice means that everyone has a fair chance of living the healthiest life possible. The opportunity to have a healthy life often depends on the environment where someone lives, plays, and works.

The fact is that many racial and ethnic minorities and poor people have to live, work and play in environments that cause them to be sick. Because they do not have the ability to move to other areas or change jobs, they often remain exposed to harmful materials for long periods of time, and suffer from a variety of illnesses.

The Community Health Dashboard now includes the number of cases and quarantines for our students and staff in each school. The dashboard is updated daily.

Parent guide to student health

As we return to in-person learning, we want to share the procedures we will use to notify parents and staff when there is a positive case of COVID-19 at school and how you can help keep our children, staff and school communities healthy.

We have also outlined some scenarios here to help you determine what to do if your child has had contact with a symptomatic person or positive case, as well as other scenarios.
