Something to Think About...

Medical and Pharmaceutical Interventions...

Please remember that we may not initiate conversations with parents regarding medications students may or may not be taking in relation to a medical diagnosis.

You are welcome to ask about steps they are taking at home in relation to the condition or diagnosis. If the parent chooses to share that information with you (unsolicited) that is their perogative. However, we may not ask what or if the student is taking medications.

Campus Representation in District Level Committees...

  • Teacher Advisory Committee - We need a BPE teacher who is willing to be our voice at TAC this year. As the campus representative, you would take concerns from our campus to the committee as well as participate in solution seeking discussions during the meetings. The first meeting is from 4:30-6:30 on September 18th. Additional meetings are scheduled for November 7th and February 19th.
  • Thank you, Karen Grantham, for volunteering to be our Keller Education Foundation representative!

Serving Two Purposes...

Our families want to know about the people with whom their children spend each day. They also like to know what their teachers like so they can honor them in ways that align with your interests.

So the dilemma is how do we accomplish this in a format that is user friendly, teacher friendly, and fun. The solution we have arrived at is a 'Top 10 Things to Know About Me' list you could post on your teacher website. A Word document of this format is attached to the email and a sample is below.

I'm sharing this with you now so you can get your creative juices flowing. There will be time built into the faculty meeting agenda this Thursday for you to work on it.

PTA Evening Events...

Many of you were very proactive and have already designated people to attend each of the PTA meetings. Thank you for being ahead of the game. Having said that, I would like to make a little adjustment. Given that 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade teams have designated evenings during which their grade level will perform, I would like to take a slightly different approach. The list below will guide you as to who needs to attend what...

  • September 25th - Math Night - All homeroom teachers
  • October 10th - PTA hosts Tailgating & a Movie (bookfair will be open) - I'm hoping we have enough BPE Parent/Teachers on staff that we will have a strong staff showing without designating attendees.
  • October 23rd - PTA Meeting & Dr. Reid speaks (this was originally designated as Cocoa, Cookies, and Game Night...I don't have the details just yet ) - Co-cur*, Specials, K & 1st each designate a team member who will attend as staff representatives
  • November 13 - 2nd Grade Veteran's Day Program - 2nd Grade team attends...other teams not required to have a rep present
  • February 12th - 3rd Grade Performance - 3rd Grade team attends...other teams not required to have a rep present
  • March 19th - Science Night - TBD...more information to come
  • April 16 - Talent Show - Co-cur*, Specials, K & 1st each designate a team member who will attend as staff representatives
  • May 21 - 4th Grade Performance - 4th Grade team attends...other teams not required to have a rep present

*Co-cur team- Steve and Kourtney will be here for their program nights already but may need team support. Please keep this in mind when designating team reps attending the events.

Where in the World is Lisa...

I'm going to be a bit scarce this week so if you need me, just email or message me. Ulyana and I will be participating in the Brancato training all day Monday and half day (AM) on Tuesday. Wednesday is General Administrator Meeting at central admin. Thursday and Friday will be back to normal.
