2019-2020 Focus:
Positive School Culture & Data Driven Instruction
Happy Thanksgiving
The admin team and I are so thankful to be able to work with such hard working people that do so much for children. I'm personally thankful for my health, my family and having a job that allows me to impact so many people. What are you thankful for?
Supervision
This is a special week and should be a fun couple of days. Having said that, to ensure that our students do not lose their academic focus and coast these next two days we need to make sure that we are super vigilant. If students know that they are going to watch movies in every class all day on Tuesday, they will not be engaged and negative behaviors are likely to follow. Make sure that you are actively monitoring your classroom. If you are working with a student or a group of students, look up and scan hot areas first then the rest of the room. Walk around and use proximity often.
Staff Dress
Please make sure that we continue to dress professionally. Jeans should only be worn on Fridays if you paid your PTSA dues.
WDM
During data meetings today, we will discuss how your reteach went last week and what improvements towards mastery occurred last week. Please bring last week's assessments as well.
Mr. Smith

Literacy
Team, after Winter Break we will be adding a literacy component to our week. On Monday's during core connect students will read high interest books. On Fridays, we will be writing using the R.A.C.E strategy to answer writing prompts. For those who are unfamiliar, the RACE format prepares students to answer short and extended response prompts. It asks students to Restate, Answer, Cite evidence, and Explain their answer. There will be a couple of work shops on the RACE strategy before we begin.
