Community-Wide Announcements & Reminders
VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY
HONORS CHALLENGE ENROLLMENT
At this time, all teachers have emailed confirmation of Honors Challenge enrollment. When progress reports are posted on PowerSchool on 11/14, you will see “HP” (Honors Pending) for courses in which students have officially enrolled in the Honors Challenge. Teachers will continue to update students and parents about students’ progress and work towards completing the Honors Challenge in their classes. Thank you for your help and communication around these efforts.
MID-SEMESTER 1
It’s hard to believe, but the end of mid-semester 1 is approaching! Grades for MS1 close on Wednesday, 11/8. Progress reports will be available on PowerSchool on Tuesday, 11/14. We are encouraging students and teachers to continue to proactively and clearly communicate learning progress so far this year.
PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
PTC will be Wednesday, 11/15 from 4:00-7:00pm and Thursday, 11/16 from 8:30-3:00pm. Sign ups are live now and will continue until 11:59pm on 11/12. Detailed information on how to sign up for conferences was included in this email from Dana Curran earlier this week. We look forward to welcoming you back into the building and talking about all the great work students have been doing. Should you have any questions about your child’s classes prior to those dates, please do not hesitate to reach out to the classroom teachers.
School Highlights
JROTC PROGRAM FIELD TRIP
Members of the JROTC program had the unique opportunity to fly with the 157th Air Refueling Wing out of Pease Air National Guard Base last week. The group flew in a KC-46 as it refueled multiple F-15 jets midair and were then refueled by another KC-46. Included in the flight manifest were two of Souhegan's very own; Kylé Robson, school counselor and Calli Hrycuna, JROTC student member.

SENIOR PROJECT
Yesterday seniors participated in the first checkpoint for their senior project. Students met with their panel after school for 15 minutes to determine if their proposal was complete or incomplete. Please check in with your senior to ask how their meeting went. If your senior's proposal was marked incomplete, you will receive communication by Thursday, November 9th from the staff mentor.

Mo Greene
What is your role at Souhegan?
Special Education Teacher
How long have you been with Souhegan?
15 years
What do you love about your job?
I love that, as a special educator, I get to co-teach classes with my Souhegan colleagues. It's just so unique for teachers in my field to get to be a teacher of all students and not just those who need extra help. I taught English for 10 years before coming to SHS so I love being able to use those skills to help make challenging content more accessible to students who struggle.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to do anything outdoors with my family and friends. We especially like to ski in the winter but when the snow melts we love to mountain bike, paddle board and hike. I also coach youth cheerleading. I’ve been coaching cheer for almost 35 years. In that time, I’ve coached at the high school level, several elite level all star cheerleading teams and a variety of youth cheer teams here in Amherst.
If you were given one wish what would it be?
There's no better feeling than watching a student experience a "lightbulb moment" when they understand something for the first time. I wish everyone could feel how amazing it is to help a kid achieve more than they though they could.
Do you have a favorite quote or mantra?
One of my coaching icons is Pat Summitt. She said "They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". Hopefully, my former students and athletes think back on our time together and are reminded first and foremost of how much I cared about them.
Community Council
This week at Community Council, we continued discussing our first proposal, the Referendum Proposal, which seeks to create a process for allowing whole school votes on proposals brought to Community Council. We will continue discussing this proposal at our next meeting on Monday 11/6 from 5:00 to 7:00 in the Info Center.
