Math~Mrs. Trotter
This week we will continue our rotations with all 5th grade math teachers.
We have new computer program the students may work on at home called Prodigy. While we will be using the program some during school hours, students are encouraged to play with the same character at home to supplement their practice!
How does my child play Prodigy at home? 1. Go to www.prodigygame.com on almost any Internet enabled device. 2. Select ‘Play Prodigy’ in the top-right corner. 3. Once the game loads, select ‘Sign in with Google.’ 4. Enter your child's Google username
If you have any questions about Prodigy, let me know!
If your student attends care math class, they have access to the computer program "IXL". Students can work on IXL at home to improve their math skills.

Their password and username is their lunch number.
As always, work on multiplication facts at home. All students (except advanced math) have access to the Reflex Math computer program. Log in information is in their student planners.

We will continue to learn a variety of poetry styles. They have or will practice writing some of their own.
Ask your students to show you how they evaluated real paintings and used those paintings to describe tone, mood, and fictional stories. We will do this again this week as well as creating analogies and symbols within our poetry.
We are working on finishing our poetry. Students who choose to read their original poetry will do so in class on May 18, 2018.
You CAN help ELA from home…
Library books were due May 14, 2018. We will not check out books for the remainder of the year. If your child still has a library book checked out be sure to send those in ASAP.
Science and Social Studies~Mrs. Carel
Social Studies: This week we will learn about the election of 1800, the election process and how this event applies to us today. We will participate in dramatic skits to help reinforce concepts.
Science: This week we will continue to review content learned throughout the year.
Thank you for all of the cards, gifts and encouraging words during Teacher Appreciation Week. I am so fortunate to have had the opportunity to be your child’s teacher and to have watched them grow, laugh with, and learn beside them. Thank you for sharing your child with me this year!
