Introduction
Whoosh! There goes the Hammerhead Shark at a 25 mile speed! That is the normal speed limit in Montvale! The Hammerhead is an interesting animal and i'm going to tell you all about it!
Life Cycle and Reproduction
The life cycle and reproduction of a Hammerhead Shark is very interesting, The steps are the shark eggs in the female’s body and fertilized. The male shark will help with its claspers that are used to transfer sperm to the female and help her fertilize her eggs. The gestation period can be two years. Baby Sharks are born with teeth and soon swim away from their mother who maybe will eat their babies. The Hammerheads have up from 20 to 40 offspring. And the babies are 27 inches long at birth. The life span can be 20 to 25 years. Their conservation status is threatened. That means if we are not careful, then the hammerhead could go extinct.
Diet
Have you ever wondered what the Hammerhead eats? Well, you are going to find out. The Hammerhead eats cephalopods like squid, cuttlefish, and octopus, also they eat crustaceans. The Hammerhead Shark’s favorite food is fish. The main prey are Fish, Squid, and Octopus. And the Hammerhead’s diet are carnivores. The hammerhead obtains its food by swimming after it at high speeds. They go after a lot of kinds of fishes. They also feed on other types of sea life, thats why they are the top predators on the food chain. The weight of a Hammerhead Shark usually weighs around 500 to 1,000 pounds. That is almost as heavy as 10 5th graders!
Appearence
Whoa! There is a 20 ft tall Hammerhead Shark in your way, these animals are very big and small. The smallest species of a Hammerhead are the Sphyrna Corona, that have the length of 3 ft. The largest species are the Sphyrna Mokarran, some of them can grow up to 20 ft. The most different feature of a Hammerhead Shark are its eyes. They have some of the most weird animal eyes of any animal. Their eyes can be very wide or very narrow. Their eyes can look like an axe. The Hammerhead has one eye at each end and one nostril at each end. The color of a Hammerhead can be light gray or brownish with white undersides. Now, back to the eyes. The eyes of a Hammerhead give them better sight than any other animal because their eyes are spread out, and no other animal has eyes like that.
