CURRICULUM UPDATES
At the last faculty meeting Matt had mentioned that we would be continuing our curriculum work. As we have wrapped up the first quarter, we are going to begin offering grade level curriculum teams time to meet and work so that we can create/revise the curriculum that has been worked on and continue to add to the Atlas site.
Grade level curriculum teams will be meeting once during the second quarter to horizontally align the curriculum. The goal is to be able to meet with content teams (6-8) during the third quarter to work on vertical alignment of the curriculum.
In order to give this time to work, we will be using teachers on duty to cover classes. We have done our best to spread the days out, please know if we have a large amount of uncovered teachers on a scheduled PD day this curriculum time will need to be rescheduled. Emails will be sent with dates ASAP.
During 4th quarter we will be providing off team classes time to collaborate to work on curriculum alignment and to update the Atlas site.
TECHNOLOGY SPOTLIGHT
JOIN US FOR FMS APPY HOUR ON DECEMBER 17th in the LIBRARY! Come to collaborate with colleagues to learn a new tip or get feedback on something you may have tried in class.
In response to losing his hall pass over and over, Mr. Lopez has created an easy-to-fill-out electronic sign in and out google form. When a student needs to leave the class, s/he will fill out the google form at bit.ly/beback129 and when the student returns s/he sign back in using the same form.
The form has a spreadsheet that keeps record of the time and date each student leaves and enters the room. The same form could be shared with the administrators so that they can monitor the whereabouts of students as needed.
This is an effective, low tech, cheap way to save paper, time, and keep records; and it’s cool!
Thank you for sharing this with us Eric!
