Welcome Back!

Welcome to Mill Creek East's 2022-2023 school year! I am very excited about beginning this journey as MCE's new principal and cannot wait to meet my students and families.

We have been working hard this past month to have everything ready for the start of the new year. The staff at MCE is incredible. Your student's and I are lucky to have such a dedicated staff. The classrooms are coming together beautifully, many thanks to our custodial team, and will be ready to greet all our learners on July 29th!

I wanted to share a bit about myself so you can get to know me better. I began my career in the Indianapolis Public School district before moving to Plainfield Community Schools, and now Mill Creek East. My husband and I have been married for 33 years and have 5 children and 5 grandchildren. Our youngest will be a sophomore at Plainfield High School. She is a golfer and is in the school's show choir. My husband teaches math at Plainfield Middle School and one of my daughters teaches 3rd grade at Clarks Creek Elementary school in Plainfield. I love to travel and love to read. My husband and I have been members at Plainfield Christian Church for over 20 years. We look forward to getting to know more about the Mill Creek community in the coming months.

If you do not follow our school on Facebook please find Mill Creek East Elementary and Mill Creek East PTO. Both pages will update information regularly about events at school. I had the chance to meet with our amazing PTO co-Presidents, Mindy Roe and Whitney Kern, last week. They have many exciting plans for the upcoming school year. Our PTO is a strong organization that is always looking for extra hands. Please consider joining them and attending their meetings as you are able. They will have a table with more information at our supply drop off night.

If you have any questions please feel free to email me at amennonno@mccsc.k12.in.us

Transportation Information

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures:

We will continue with the same arrival and dismissal procedures as last school year. Please see the image for a reminder.

  • All students will enter the building at 8:40am.
  • Car riders will need to register for a car rider number using the form below.
  • Car riders will dismiss at 3:40pm.
  • Bus riders will dismiss at 3:45pm or when at least 6 buses have arrived.

Transportation will send families bus information before the 1st day of school. They are working hard to get the routes set-up.

When dropping off car riders please have your child(ren) exit the car on the sidewalk side for safety. There are 5 spots in front of the building. We will unload and load 5 cars at a time and release them all at the same time. We do not want any moving cars as children are unloading or loading. Here is the car rider map drop off and pick up map.

Car Rider Tags

Complete this form to obtain a car rider tag. Even if your child rides the bus, if you might pick them up from school occasionally, it is better to go ahead and request a car rider tag now. If you have any questions please call our school office.

Beginning of the Year Dates

Supply Drop Off Night - Thursday, July 28th 4:00-6:00 p.m. Grades 1st-5th Students/families may stop by and drop off their supplies. During this time they can find their new classroom and walk the halls to refamiliarize themselves with the building. Our classrooms may not be open to visit. Meet the Teacher Night - Tuesday, August 2nd 6:00-7:25 p.m. Come and meet your child's teacher! You only need to attend one time slot for each child. Each grade level will offer two different time slots hoping that families with multiple children at MCE will be able to attend all their children's classroom meetings.

2nd Rotation: 1st-5th Grades: 6:30-6:55

3rd Rotation: 3rd-5th Grades: 7:00-7:25

During these times the teachers will share general information about the upcoming year with the families. If you would like to talk with the teacher further please let them know and they can schedule a time for you to meet.

Student Chromebooks

Students will receive their Chromebooks (laptop) from their classroom teachers this year when school begins - not at a distribution night like in the past. The $10 damage waiver free has been added to your child's book rental amount.

Parents at Lunch

We are excited that our parents may join their child for lunch this year on special days if they are able. We are waiting to begin this until we return after Labor Day, on September 6th, to give us time to get our lunch room routines set up.

Parent Volunteers

We are also excited to say that we would love to have parent volunteers this year! Please check with your child's teacher about volunteer opportunities and obtaining the background check. You could volunteer in the classroom, help with classroom parties, and with field trips.
