Principal's Message
Dear CRHS Students and Families,
Please review the following guidelines and expectations for Virtual Instruction to help you and your child prepare for the start of school on September 8th. I also want to remind everyone that instruction will be synchronous (live via zoom with teachers) on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays students will participate in asynchronous learning (self paced assignments). Please also remember attendance counts and assignments will be graded. Parents and students will be able to check progress in PowerSchool. (PowerSchool information is below.)
To prepare for school we are asking that families really spend some time setting up a learning space for your child. It will be important for them to have a spot at home that is dedicated to their studies. A table or desk will be necessary to keep their laptop and learning materials on. You'll also want to be close to an outlet so that their laptop can be charged as needed. Students will have breaks between classes. Breaks will be time to for them to get up, stretch, get a snack and have a break from their screen. Have your child help set up their space to add their personal touch and preferences to it.
Information will be coming home soon regarding device and material pick up. If you haven't completed the survey about laptop and internet needs please do so as soon as possible. (The link is below.) During device pick up students will also be given a bag of supplies including: a folder, pen, pencils, a notebook, file folders, a communicator sleeve and dry erase markers to use as a dry erase board, a stress ball, and possible additional materials specific to the courses they are taking. Our hope is to help our students get started with supplies. Supplies families will need to purchase are looseleaf paper, additional pencils, and a binder with dividers to keep the paper in. This is also a reminder that belongings students left in lockers will be returned to them during device/material pick up as well as yearbooks they purchased.
There are going to be many questions along the way this year. It is a confusing and anxious time for adults and children. Please know we are here to support you and help our students through every part of this journey this year. Our theme this year is "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!" During this pandemic so much is out of our control. The one thing we can control is how we handle and react to events out of our control. Our children are looking to us to guide them through this, together we can do this and we can make the best out of a challenging time. As always I welcome your feedback, questions, and concerns. Feel free to email or call anytime.
Stay safe, healthy, and happy,
Nikki VonDenBosch
CRHS Principal
