Note from the Principal
GES Families-
Thank you for your perseverance over the past two months while we were in virtual mode! I’m proud of our families! Take time celebrate. Well done to all the parents, guardians, neighbors, grandparents, and childcare programs that made it work. We appreciate you!
We had a great week back to school! We loved seeing your children in person and they were excited to be back. Please continue to reach out to your child’s teacher for any clarification you need. We are still working out some logistics for our Friday schedule, therefore we appreciate your patience. It may change some each week depending on the needs of the students.
Thank you to the Gator parents who have signed up for substituting. This will be critical in the coming weeks. We must have the personnel to cover classrooms when isolation and quarantines occur. We appreciate your investment of time!
Thanks for taking time to review the Geist Gazette until the end. There is a new lunch menu, various required state and local testing expectations, and picture retakes are coming soon!! Enjoy your Sunday!

Principal
2021 Winter NWEA Testing Form for GES Students
We are proud of our Gator students' and teachers' hard work first semester!
The 2021 Winter Testing window is scheduled to be administered Monday, February 8th through Friday, February 26th. Both the Reading and Math assessments will be administered to each student during the testing window.
Virtual students may test with their classroom and teacher during the scheduled testing times or in a small-group setting. The NWEA assessments will only be completed in-person at the school building. NWEA assessments will not be administered in a virtual manner. Virtual families that do not complete the 2021 Winter NWEA Testing Form will be considered opting out of the NWEA Winter assessments.
Virtual families please complete the 2021 Winter NWEA Testing Form for GES Virtual Students by Friday, January 29th indicating your choice of testing with the classroom or to sign-up for an in-person small group testing time.
For families that opt to bring their child to school to test with their teacher, please reach out to your child's teacher directly. The classroom teacher will communicate the specific testing schedule information for their class.
The week of February 1st additional information will be emailed to virtual families who have requested in-person small group testing.
If you have any questions, please contact your child's teacher.

FYAP Snack Attack
Geist Elementary is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will receive a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please click here to sign up. If you are already in the program there is no need to sign up again.
Sincerely,
Lisa Keller, Counselor
