Maple's Illinois Principals Association Outstanding Student and School Citizen Award

Each year, the Illinois Principals Association awards two students from each building the Outstanding Student and School Citizen Award. Kennedi VanHyfte and Wade Eisenmann are Maple's honorees this year! We are extremely proud of them and all their efforts this year at Maple. Students will be honored with a certificate and a pin. They will also be treated to special breakfast with Mrs. Root, Maple principal.

Maple Golden Ruler Award for Excellence in Education

Maple would like to express our congratulations to Hannah Rattin (2021), special education teacher, and Jo Beauvois (2020), kindergarten/music paraprofessional, on being selected as Golden Ruler recipients in Vermilion County! Both of these ladies are true assets to Maple School and are always putting students first. We are very blessed to have them working at Maple School!

Maple's School Library

Last summer, the Maple staff worked on updating the Maple library. As you can see from the pictures, the Maple PTO assisted in purchasing new decorations and furniture for the room. Through grant money, new technology and books were also purchased. Mrs. Jane Long and Mrs. Tracy Zorns have worked extremely long hours and put in many hours making the Maple library an inviting place for students to come read and check out books.

Autism Awareness Month

April is national Autism Awareness Month. This month Maple has been focusing on ways to encourage students to celebrate one another's differences. Mrs. Havens held a class poster making contest in honor of Autism Awareness Month.

Many Maple teachers are participating in a fourteen week professional development opportunity. They are being instructed in Whole Brain Teaching. Last week, they learned about Alpha Hawks. Alpha Hawks are people in our lives that live for others. They are kind, thoughtful and always put others first.

Our top two fundraisers were Reeve Pilotte and Zaiden Tubbs They will each receive a tablet for their efforts!
