Campus Community Invited to Climate Survey Sessions

The Campus Climate survey subcommittee has been revising questions and we want to reach out to you for your help in determining the survey questions for 2016.
Listening sessions will be held from October 26th through October 28th. They will be led by outside facilitator, Dr. Barry Nagle, a senior research associate from Gates Millennium Scholars Program/UNCF and a managing partner of Evaluation & Action Research Associates.
Come to one of the following listening sessions so your voice can be heard. Each session will be limited to 15 participants. All sessions are audio-recorded.
Each session has a specific topic, except for the last general session on October 28th.

Sustainability issues in American Agriculture: 2015 Update
Dr. Cross will examine several important issues in agriculture including: Why is the number of U.S. farmers falling? What are the influences of weather and climate on agricultural production? What impacts do drought and wildfires in California have upon America’s agriculture? What impacts will a changing climate have upon American agriculture?
This ‘quest’ to enhance your understanding of sustainability, will demonstrate that a geographic perspective, one that incorporates various temporal and spatial scales, can help bring into focus environmental issues that affect everyone.

The Daughter's of Corn Nicaraguan Dance Ensemble

This multi-media performance by six young Nicaraguan dancers includes elegant, folkloric dances performed in beautiful traditional dresses to marimba music. Short video showings will also take the audience into the lives of “Women in Action”, a women’s community development group that live and carry out community projects in one of the poorest settlements of Managua, Nicaragua.

Beth Heuer is an alumna, and the former Human Resources Director at UW Oshkosh. She retired from UWO in 2009, but continues to take on many worthwhile projects. She is also the House of Roz Jewelry Business Developer, and Women - Who - Care - Greater Area Giving Circle Founder. She'll be speaking about how she healed her heart from personal tragedy.

The McNair Scholars Program
Applications accepted through Friday, November 20

The McNair Scholars Program, a FUNDED research opportunity program, is now taking applications for students to enter the program in January and do research the summer of 2016.
To be eligible, students must be first generation and low income OR a member of an underrepresented minority group; applicants must have completed at least 45 credits to apply and have a GPA of 2.75. The objective of the program is that students enter a graduate program by fall after earning their bachelor's degree.
