Christmas Concerts: Preschool-5th Grade
Hats off to Gwen Sarya once again for producing another fantastic series of concerts! Our students did fabulous all three nights. We are so fortunate to have her part of our staff. She works diligently with our students and the skills learned in music class are well showcased on these nights. Dan Ziebarth led the technology and sound while Darrin Podskalny created the beautiful artwork showcased on stage, throughout the gym and in the hallways. It was a great production for our families and community.
Christmas Sponsors
We are so fortunate to have such an amazing community. 74 students were adopted this year for Christmas. We have GREAT sponsors who go above and beyond to assure our students have a Christmas. It is truly a blessing to so many families. Lori Kraemer coordinates between the parents and sponsors to make sure everything runs smoothly and anonymously and everyone receives their gifts.
MEMSPA State Conference
I was so fortunate to have the opportunity to attend the Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association State Conference last week. The theme this year was Lead Positive: Connect, Collaborate and Create. The keynote presenters Sean Covey, Kim Campbell, and Jimmy Casas inspired us all to be champions for our students and staff. Sean Covey reminded me to focus on the "wildly important" goals. Kim Campbell reminded me of the importance to laugh with our students and staff and to never give up on them. We also need to share our stories and our lives with our staff and students. We have to lead joyfully and laugh to survive. The final keynote speaker, Jimmy Casas inspired me beyond measure. Casas's keynote was a great reminder that we need to capitalize on all of the people around us to do this difficult, but amazing work together. We need to remember our purpose and our core principles. The way we create excellence is to live it. We need to build a community of excellence to help get the work done.
My mind has been nonstop and I will continue to reflect on this experience and inspire others to live out their excellence!
