Warwick Academy Senior Library
Fall Term 2016
Season's Greetings
Dear Parents,
I wish you all a relaxing and joyful Christmas holiday surrounded by relatives, friends....and books.
Since September, senior students have made full use of our Library collection, services and facilities, whether it be for checking books out, reading/studying at lunchtime or taking part in a game of chess on Wednesdays. You will find, below, a report written by Niccoló Walrond, the Y12 student who manages the Chess Club as part of his IB CAS project.
Our 2016/17 Library Literacy Campaign: "Information Matters" was launched in November and will run until February 2017. We initially looked at why "Information matters for academic success" and as a result compiled a brochure with insiders' revision tips for the IB Diploma. Older students were also invited to reflect on "The Right to Know" with our guest speakers Information Commisioner Mrs. Gutierrez and Lawyer Mr. Musson.
Kind regards,
Françoise Wolffe
School Librarian
Revision Tips for IB Examinations
Beyond the curriculum content, it is important for IB students revising for their IB Diploma examinations to understand the importance of learning from their mistakes, thinking like an examiner or listening to their teachers' recommendations. Access and download invaluable insiders' tips to help your child here.
The Right to Know
Last Wednesday, we had the honor of welcoming Mrs. Gutierrez and Mr. Musson to our IB Center. These distinguished lawyers introduced our students to the Public Access to Information Act (PATI) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). These new pieces of legislation are designed to empower and protect Bermudian ciitizens. This presentation was organised by the Library to encourage older students to make informed and substantiated decisions especially as they prepare to play a more active role in public affairs.
Chess Club Report
