Bear Tracks
January 13, 2017
A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
We have had a great week so far, and today will certainly be a special way to close it out.
The direct connection to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. that Reverend Caldwell brings will be exciting and special for our students and very powerful, not to mention the work that he has done and the obstacles that he has overcome on his own. Enjoy the day and thank you for your flexibility. Our work with Christine's Hope will certainly make a difference and have an impact on our kids!
Finally, I want to congratulate Kelly on being the 2016-17 Bear Tavern Teacher of the Year. She is the epitome of class, dedication and professionalism. It is an honor to recognize her with this award.
It is clear that we have some awesome things happening at Bear Tavern. Each of us plays a part in that and has a role. Let's continue to share ideas, to work together and to motivate each other to continue on path in which we are heading!
Sincerely,
Chris
Key Information:
Lesson Plans - Be sure that your plans are posted in Oncourse for day that you are teaching. In the event of an unannounced observation, they should be posted for each given day.
Day of Service - CLICK FOR MEMO Get ready to welcome Rev. Caldwell today!
TCNJ - Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in having a TCNJ student observe and help on Tuesdays, specifically in Math and Science.
Pineapple -
- Thank you for those who have filled out the survey from this week's faculty meeting (click here for survey). We still have a good deal talking and work to do in order to get started on our peer visits.
- Notice that I didn't write peer 'observations.' Our Pineapple project is simply an opportunity to help us harness the ideas and talent that we have in all subject, programs and grade levels throughout the building. We have begun a process to re-frame how we think about PD and about learning. If we adopt a lens of non-judgmental support, celebration and collaboration, we can build an open culture where we can all learn from and teach something to the group; and in that scenario, everyone wins.
- Feel free to look at our Padlet (click here) results from December to jumpstart thinking of what you'd like to see or learn more about.
- REMEMBER - we don't have to wait until Jan. 23. That is just a day that we have additional administrative coverage. PLEASE CONTACT ME if you want coverage to visit or if you want some help in getting the process started on a simple level. We can start small and slow.
- This is more of a way of thinking than just an activity. It is not mandatory and whether you leave specific plans, rely upon what is in Oncourse or let me do my thing in your class is up to you. We have to jump in in order to build the trust and relationships that will make our school soar!
