A Note from Our Nurse
Staying Healthy
I am seeing a lot of student illness at all the schools lately. Is it more than usual? The good news is that it is par for this time of the year. Having said that, we all still need to be diligent about staying healthy. The novel coronavirus has been getting a lot of attention nationwide and in particular our area since US citizens that were living in China were recently screened and evaluated at our airport before they went to California.
This is from the CDC:
Good hygiene is vital for preventing the spread of respiratory infections. This includes:
- Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is also a good option if soap and water are not readily available.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
- Avoid close contact with anyone who is sick.
- Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Stay home when you are sick.
I would also add getting the flu vaccine, get plenty of sleep, exercise, hydrate with water, eat a well-balanced meal and laugh once in awhile.
