Barrington Safety Week Information
Beginning September 20th, all Barrington 220 Schools will kick off their annual Safety Week! Throughout the week all schools will participate in safety drills that are mandated by the State of Illinois, including fire drills, tornado drills, lockdown drills and bus evacuation drills. In addition, each day students will view a short video related to these drills.
As required by the Illinois School Safety Drill Act (105 ILCS 128/20), during each academic year, schools must conduct a law enforcement lockdown drill. This drill shall be no later than 90 days after the first day of each school year.
Law enforcement lockdown drills must be conducted on days and times when students are normally present in the school building and must involve participation from all school personnel and students present at school at the time of the lockdown drill. The appropriate local law enforcement agency shall observe the administration of the lockdown drill.
Also required by the Illinois Safety Drill Act, we must notify you about the upcoming law enforcement lockdown drill and provide an opportunity for you to opt your child out of the drill.
The law enforcement lockdown drill will take place at Station Campus on Wednesday, September 22nd, at 10:20 a.m. If you wish your student to be exempted from the law enforcement lockdown drill, please contact Assistant Principal Tim Haupt at thaupt@barrington220.org.
