SIDS
Sydney Fowler
SIDS- (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) the unexplained death, usually during sleep, of a seemingly healthy baby less than a year old.
Two Statistics
- SIDS is a silent medical disorder than can happen to an infant who seems healthy.
- SIDS is sometimes referred to as "the crib death" because babies often die in their cribs.
Two Rules to Follow
- Make babies sleep on their backs but, have supervised "tummy time" to allow then to strengthen their trunk and neck muscles so that they learn to pick their heads up.
- Do not let your baby sleep with you or anyone else. Have them to sleep in their cribs. However, if you want your baby in the same bed as you, use something like the Close & Secure Sleeper by One Step to prevent you from rolling over on your baby or the baby suffocating itself with your blankets.
