Wildcat Weekly

2022-2023 Vol. #25 January 21, 2022

Welcome back to the weekly! We have enjoyed another great week at TMHS!

Congrats to TMHS Cheer! They competed in Dallas last weekend in the State Championships and were crowned the 6A Division I State Champions! Their amazing performances earned them the hardware last weekend, but also punched their ticket to compete at Nationals next month in Orlando Florida. Way to go Cheer! We're beyond proud of you!

This week our FFA students will showcase their animals in the 47th annual TISD Project Show and Sale. The show begins on Wednesday and runs through Saturday, concluding with the live auction at 2:00 p.m.. All show events are held at the TISD show barn on the campus of THS. The show is a great time for the entire family so bring everyone out and help support our FFA program and its participants!

If you haven’t already, you need to purchase a cap and gown for your Senior. You can purchase a cap and gown at www.balfourgrad.com. Once on the site, select “Tomball Memorial High School” and scroll down to “Featured Products”. This is where you will find the option to purchase just the cap and gown.

We will have our annual Powder Puff football game this year on March 1, 2023. Powder Puff Football is where the Senior Girls are the Football players and the Male students are the Cheerleaders and Dance Team. The coaches are selected by the TMHS Football Coaching Staff. An information packet will be available in January with the Parent Permission Slip being due on February 1, 2023.

There are a limited number of yearbooks left for purchase. We will not be ordering any extras, so be sure to grab your copy today! You can order at www.Balfour.com, and be sure to select Tomball Memorial HS. We have sold over 1,100 copies already!

Help support our TMHS Choir through our annual flag fundraiser! Choir students will place full-size American flags on national holidays throughout the year in neighborhoods which feed into TMHS. This project raises funds for school trips, scholarships, and so much more! Check out the website at https://www.schoolspiritflags.com/ or https://tmhschoir.com/booster-club

It's not too late! Please consider joining the TMHS PTO! All memberships and donations help support the Chick-fil-a reward lunches each 9 weeks for students and they support our teacher and staff appreciation efforts.

***Volunteering is not required.***

Did you know that the PTO’s largest and most successful event is Student Reward lunches?

We reward students who received All As, As & Bs and those who improve their grades 15 points from the previous 9 weeks with a Chick-fil-A sandwich, chips and dessert!

The PTO serves anywhere from 1700-1900 students each 9 weeks at a cost of over $8,500 each grading period. We need over $25,000 to put on this lunch on 3 times a year for the hard-working students of TMHS! Our next Reward Lunch is Friday, February 3.

This is such a fun, encouraging celebration that our students work so hard for and enjoy! We need your help to make this event happen as it takes a village to feed all these amazing students. Please consider donating money for sandwiches, chips & snacks and volunteering to make this event a success.

Donate money for CFA sandwiches and to let us shop for you for chips & dessert.

***All donations are tax deductible***

Sign up to donate and volunteer.

Lunch Drop-off

Parents - If you drop off lunch for your student, you will be required to show ID to the front desk just as you would to check out a student (the person dropping the lunch MUST be listed on the student contact list). We will then label the lunch for your student and place it on a table inside the front office. When your student comes to retrieve their lunch, they will need to show their student ID to take the lunch with them.

Reminder: Door Dash, Uber Eats and other food delivery services are NOT allowed to send students food during the school day.

Student Dress Code Reminders

We will continue to enforce our dress code policies per the TISD Student handbook with an emphasis continuing on the following items:

- All students must wear clothing that adequately covers the body. Shorts and/or skirts must reach the mid-thigh. Spaghetti straps, strapless, backless, see-through and low-cut tops are not allowed. Tops must cover the midriff.

- All male students must be clean-shaven.

- Students are not allowed to wear hats, bandanas, or other head coverings.

- Students are permitted to wear ear piercings only. No other body piercings are allowed to be visible.

- Student hair must be that of natural color.

- Pajamas are not acceptable.

All dress code policies can be found in the TISD Student Handbook linked HERE.

*Seniors - Dress code will apply and you must be in dress code in order to walk the stage at graduation!

Student ID Badges

All TMHS Students will be required to wear their ID badge each day!

Student ID Badges

Students are required to wear their campus-issued ID badges to school every day. ID badges will help the campus determine which individuals are authorized to be on campus and will assist in accounting for students in an emergency situation. For students, their ID badge has additional functionality for transportation, child nutrition, and library services. The ID badge will be provided to students as soon as possible, in some instances before school during orientation activities or on the first day of school. Students will also receive a lanyard and protective sleeve. Students must have their ID visible on them at all times during the school day. In the name of collectively ensuring a safe environment in our schools, the District appreciates the support of our parents in ensuring their students wear their badges to school every day.

Click HERE to purchase a new ID if necessary.

Please see the Student Health and Safety Handbook for additional information on measures to keep your students safe and healthy!

Student Parking

Students are able to purchase their parking permit via the TMHS website linked HERE. Special attention must be made to all of the parking guidelines and required documents in order to secure their parking permit. Only students who have purchased a permit are allowed to park on campus.

Only students who have purchased a reserved, painted parking space are allowed to park in spaces that are numbered.

**Senior reserved painted parking spots are SOLD OUT**

Student Cell Phone Guidelines

The district permits students to possess personal technology devices for safety and educational purposes; however, these devices must remain silenced during the instructional day, and shall only be used in accordance with all guidelines established in the Tomball ISD Digital Resources Acceptable Use and Internet Safety Policy. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Cell phones may be used during class for instructional purposes and in accordance with each teacher’s guidelines. Please note that teachers may choose to prohibit cell phone use in their classrooms.

- Cell phones may be used before and after school, between class periods, and during lunch as long as students follow TISD acceptable use guidelines. Students utilizing cell phones in the hallways, bathrooms, or other common areas during class time are subject to having their cell phone confiscated by TMHS administration.

School Safety

At TMHS, student safety is always our top priority. TMHS and all of TISD utilize the Standard Response Protocol when preparing for emergency events and when/if an emergency does occur. Anytime we utilize these protocols for practice drills or an actual event, communication will be sent out to inform parents and families. Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the literature below. For additional information please see the TISD Handbook and Student Health and Safety.
