Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of May 16, 2021
A Message From Our Principal
Greetings!
If you had the opportunity to listen in on the BOE meeting this week you would have seen the recognition of the district teachers and educational service professionals of the year. They were recognized by the superintendent, Dr. Gruccio and the Board of Education. It was truly an exciting evening. Congratulations to our High School recipients, Mr. Ryan Smith and Mr. Jerry Fecher.
Many of our AP students began taking their end of the course AP Tests. Some will take an online exam from 5/18 thru 5/28, others will be in person to have their test administered starting on May 21. We wish them all the best and hope for great scores!
Our Orchestra had an awesome performance on Wednesday night, May 19. Thanks to Ms. Jenna DiSalvio for a terrific production. Students were led through a series of great songs and their performance was stellar! Looking forward to band, theatre and dance, and choir productions coming up. All will be live streamed. Would like to shout out to the cast and crew of “Les Miserables”! Their performance aired this past weekend! Great job everyone! Was a pleasure to watch.
Shout out to our Multicultural Club under the direction of Mr. Bell. They have worked hard with the execution of the EHT Idol and we are down to the final week. Our two finalists are senior, Gabe Depaor and junior, Alex Ciurlino. Best of luck to them! While both are truly winners, the voting takes place until 5/28.
We were very fortunate to have the mega site for Covid vaccines actually here in our building to administer the vaccine to both our high school students and middle school students 12 and older. Thanks to Ms. Semet and Atlanticare for making it happen!
As you know the governor has lifted some restrictions. Please stay patient as we await what that means for education. While graduation information has been released, it could change in our favor once we know more about the outdoor gatherings. As you have seen throughout this year, we try to make adjustments each time we hear what is permitted.
Until next week, stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms.Connor

Key Club Spring Community Pride Day
The highlight of April was Spring Community Pride Day, Key Club’s first in-person event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Volunteers helped pick up trash near East Black Horse Pike along roadways, public property, and in non-residential problem areas (vacant lots) in neighborhoods and managed to collect 30+ bags of trash. Safety regulations were put in place and all volunteers were required to wear a mask and stay 6 feet apart. Overall, the event was successful and Key Club looks forward to having more in-person events in the future as COVID-19 cases lessen.

BOYS LACROSSE
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
EHT Boys Volleyball hosted the No. 2 ranked team in South Jersey, Williamstown, last Friday and played them tough. After going up 18-13, the eagles were unable to hold out for the win losing in extra time 26-24. The second set was back and forth with both teams effectively siding out for points, but once again, Williamstown was able to pull out the win late with a 25-23 victory. In spite of the result, the team gained some much needed confidence going into the state playoff tournament. Ivan Wang had his best performance of the season thus far with two aces, one kill, one block, and nine assists setting. Sophomore Alec Barnes had four monster blocks along with a kill in the match, and Scott Hiltner, Andy Auyeung, and Alex Adair combined for five kills, three aces, and twelve digs. The team followed up the big match on Friday with a battle with Cherry Hill West to start the week. Both teams refused to let the ball hit the floor with Andy Auyeung, Scott Hiltner, and Nick Fortis combining for twenty-six digs! In the end, Cherry Hill West found a way to finish out the first set 27-25 and the second set 25-22 for the victory. Luckily, the team was able to bounce back the next day with a major victory over fellow first year program, Hammonton 25-14, 25-11. Michael Barnes and Nick Fortis each had three aces while Andy Auyeung led the team in kills and digs with six and nine respectively. EHT would not let balls drop with a total of thirty-one digs in the match. The win moved EHT to 6-5 on the season with an opportunity to sweep the CAL teams with a win against Pleasantville on Thursday. In the South Jersey Playoff bracket, the Eagles are visiting the No. 13 Paul VI in the first round next Tuesday at 6pm. Good luck, boys' volleyball!
