Attendance Minute from Miss Eallonardo
Question - It’s okay if a child only misses part of a day, right?
Answer - Well, the correct answer is: sometimes and sort-of. We want our students here for each class. The Board of Education created guidelines for the computer program we use to monitor our students' grades and attendance to “decide” how to calculate an all-day absence. At Coastal Middle School the magic number is “three”. If a student misses three or more classes/blocks in a single day, then he or she most likely missed more than half the school day which is then translated into an “all day absence”. So if you MUST plan for your child to be out for part of the day, try to plan to miss no more than 2 hours to give yourself some wiggle room and not wind up in the “Three Blocks = All Day Absence” scenario.
The “Thankful for Good Attendance” Winners for this week are:
6th: Ray and Bishop
7th: McCluskey and Smart
8th: Dillon and Lingenfelter
Congratulations to the Ambassador Team - every single child on the team was present Friday!
Great work, everybody!!!!!
