The Eagle Express
From Heritage to Home...Let's Stay Connected!
April 28, 2024
We had the best week celebrating our students last week and wrapped up Student Appreciation with a great assembly on Friday! We hope your student(s) always knows how much we believe in them.
This week has a shift in focus to testing, as we kick off MAP testing for all grades in ELA and Math. We do follow a testing schedule on these days, so you can see that below. It's a busy week and we are asking for lots of support from parents by encouraging your child to get a good night's rest and having them get a good breakfast in either before school or at school so they can focus. One of the final criteria for Worlds of Fun qualifications is that students meet the expectations of MAP testing this week. Those pieces are:
- remain on task and respectful during testing window
- arrive with an iPad charged to 90% or more each day
- spend at least 50% of the recommended time testing and focused
- bring a book to read or something to do when done testing to keep you busy
Students earn 1 point for each bullet above for all 4 days of testing equaling 16 total points. In order to qualify for WOF students must get 13/16 (80%) by the end of the week. We have reviewed this with all students and will remind them of this each day, but your support at home is key as well. As always, students need to be present to ensure all sessions are complete by the end of our incentive window. We are so proud of our students as many have been doing amazing and working hard for Worlds of Fun. Let's finish strong!
Looking forward to a great Week #34 together.
Best,
Dr. Allegri

.3K Fun Run/Walk
Liberty North High School Student Council is hosting a new event for our community - a .3K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, May 4, 2024. The run/walk will begin at 9:00 am, and a Fun Fest will provide opportunities for entertainment until 11:00 am. This family-friendly event is open to everyone in our community. The Run/Walk will take place on the Liberty North campus, along Dr. Jacob’s Way, which is a short road that runs alongside our campus buildings and athletic areas. The course will host several fun stops, including a donut and coffee station, a bubbles area, and an optional color station. The Run/Walk will end in our front parking lot, where finishers will have the opportunity to enjoy a Fun Fest, including local vendors, food trucks, and carnival activities hosted by Liberty North clubs and organizations. We believe we have conceived an event that will be enjoyed by community members of all ages and are seeking your support in promoting this event to your school. With your support, we believe great memories will be made and a new tradition will be created for our community. Please review the website and flyers linked below to help provide you an easy way to share this information with your school community. Contact our team with any questions you have regarding this event. Your support is greatly appreciated. EVENT WEBSITE LINKED HERE.
Grades Being Entered
Please check Power School as grades will be entered by May 1 and then teachers will begin connecting with families in newsletters/emails that if students have evidence they still need to turn in, to complete that asap.
8th Grade Field Trips Coming Up!
We are so excited for all our 8th graders to enjoy a day off campus with their classmates and teachers for an 8th grade celebration. A huge thank you to our HMS PTSA for funding this trip for all our 8th graders! Gold will go 4/30. Kids can participate in all activities except the arcade--students can bring money for snacks and arcade games if they choose.
Last Call for Fentanyl Info Night RSVP
A reminder that this is coming up on April 30th at HMS. Please be sure to RSVP if intersted as space is limited. See the flyer below to find the sign up link. With fentanyl in our communities and amid the opioid epidemic, teaching our kids medicine safety early can save lives, not only now, but in the future! A child who’s raised from a young age to only take medication from a trusted adult, in a house that keeps medicine out of sight, is much more likely to think twice before accepting a random pill from a friend or peer. I'm not going to lie parents...the idea that your 8th grader will be leaving the halls of HMS in 4 weeks has me feeling quite emotional. There will always be something super special to me about this class. I think it's because we all started our journey at HMS together three years ago. I hope they will always know how much I believe in them. That is why we are looking forward to many fun activities for them as they finish their time in middle school and I wanted to share details with you ahead of time!
May 17 - 8th Grade Dance
- A reminder that this dance is only for HMS 8th graders and no outside visitors will be allowed to attend. Students can dress in whatever is most comfortable for them. We have seen some students want to get fancy and others are looking to stay cool and comfortable. Please know, we have no expectation that parents spend money on this event. We just want our students to have some fun together, so please don't stress! This will go from 6-7:30 and 8th graders will vote on their theme next week. We will share the winner then.
May 20 - 8th Grade will be busy
- 8th Grade Locker Clean out
- 8th Grade Freshman Day @ Liberty North - will return around 1:15
- 8th Grade Celebration Walk w/ Parents on Track
- When our 8th graders return to HMS from North, we are going to hold our first ever 8th Grade "Final Lap." We are so excited about this!!! We invite all our 8th grade parents to the HMS Track to line it beginning at 1:00. There is no parking along the bus loop at all, but parents can park in any available parking spots on the west side (track and field side) and anywhere else on campus that parking is available. (Carpooling is ideal as space is limited).
- In order to ensure students leave safely from the building, we will not be checking students out prior to dismissal. Students must stay on campus until we dismiss for the day. 8th graders will unload the buses once they return from North and immediately walk to the track. Music will be playing and parents can take video/pictures of their child doing one final lap at HMS. After the final lap, students will then be able to pick up yearbooks at tables (if they purchased one) which will be set up outside by the track on the east side.
- Parents can stay until 2:00, but then must exit campus so we can get ready for bus arrival and dismissal.
- 8th Grade Yearbook Signing
Worth Repeating
Technology
Technology will be collecting all devices for grades 6-8 on Tuesday, May 21st. Students will need to bring their devices to the LMC, during their designated times. If items are missing, technology will submit claims through One2OneRisk. Any student attending summer school, will receive their device at their summer school site during the first week of summer school. Please see the image attached of items needing turned in.
Worlds of Fun Qualifier
We have now reached the downhill slide of the school year we will be saying our "see ya next year" fair wells before we know it. But, we certainly want to ensure that we all finish this school year strong! As we look ahead, we have MANY academic expectations that must be completed, like iReady and MAP/EOC testing and end of unit assignments. But, we also many fun activities that we want all students to be able to participate in. In order for students to be able to enjoy the celebrations, MAJOR criteria will be that they are consistently here at school, showing up on time and not tardy, and doing their personal best as they complete these academic requirements. We kick off our first spring incentive tomorrow morning, April 1st with our Worlds of Fun qualifier. This is scheduled for Friday, May 10th and in order for students to be able to attend, ALL of the following criteria must be met:
- 250 Live School points in their bank account by May 3.
- NO ISS or OSS between April 1-May 3.
- No more than 5 tardies to class between April 1-May 3.
- 90% attendance or better between April 1- May 3 (this is equal to no more than 2 days missed during that time frame).
- MAP/EOC sessions must be completed and personal best must be shown.
I greatly appreciate your support with this incentive.
Weather Changes & Dress Code
As the weather begins to get warmer, we felt it was time to send a reminder. This past week, we have had quite a few conversations with students about our dress code and we'd greatly appreciate your support with this. Dress code - Policy JFCA: All dress code procedures will adhere to health and safety codes and comply with applicable law. Dress that materially disrupts the educational environment will be prohibited. Specific information regarding dress code guidelines is available here.
High School Summer School
High School Summer School Registration opened on Friday, March 1st. Our handbook can serve as a valuable resource should you have questions on how this works if you have an incoming freshmen!
Charged iPad nightly
Please help remind your child to charge their iPad every night. We are utilizing as much time as we can to do iReady lessons as to help see growth in our scores this spring, and a dead iPad hinders a student's ability to do that. We'd greatly appreciate your support with this.
