Immersion Education – Teaching academic content in another language

Hello Fronteras Families!

Thank you for your continued patience while we work out the bugs and hiccups to our remote learning plans and implementation. We are working hard to make this new format as user friendly as possible. So many of you have been our cheerleaders behind the scenes – we truly appreciate your understanding and support! Please keep us informed of any difficulties you or your student is having. Our staff has shown incredible problem-solving and solution-finding skills these past two weeks; so don’t hesitate to ask for help!

Please continue to check the district website for education updates and answers to questions you may have.

Let us know what we can do for you!

Take care and stay healthy!

Most Sincerely,

Mrs. Hutchins

Be strong now because things will get better. It might be stormy now, but it can’t rain forever.

APC Board News!

The APC Board would like our Fronteras community to know that we're here with you and for you if there is any way that we can assist.

The APC is compromised of parents, staff and community members so we are all in this together and adapting to this changing climate with you.

I want to thank Principal Hutchins and the MSBSD for keeping us all so informed and able to transition so well into online learning.

Stay safe and sane out there everyone!

Jen Manion, APC Board Chair

School Pick-Up Schedule

Do you need to pick up your child's belongings, laptop, sleds or drop off library books? Staff will be available at the school every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00am to 12:00pm until further notice! A reminder will also be posted on the Facebook Private Parent Page!

P.E. News!

Healthy Future Logs—Due today, Friday, April 3rd!

Feel free to download or create your own or share/photos/videos with your classmates on dojo for K-1 and google classroom for 2- middle. New lessons/ideas posted each Monday. You can also send me an email (guin.hill@matsuk12.us) for assignment completion each Friday. The important piece is to stay active, ideally 60 minutes everyday and this time can be spaced through out the day. Healthy Futures is currently working on a plan to get gel pens to kids who complete logs for our remote learning time.

Be A Good Digital Citizen!

Sra. Francisco put together a power point presentation on how to be a good digital citizen and guidelines for online classes! The power point presentation is available on the website and the attached link below!

Google Classroom Notifications

For those parents who don't care to get a notification every time your child's teacher posts something to Google Classroom or would prefer to receive the notifications at a set time, you can change the setting! Open one of the notifications emails and at the bottom click on "settings". When opened you'll be able to see the students you receive emails for. There's a drop down arrow under the student's email name that if clicked, it will give parents an option for how frequently they choose to see emails for that student! Please see picture below for an example!

Did You Know?

All student report cards are paperless and available in your ParentVUE account. If you have the app, log into your ParentVue account, click on "Report Card" and your child's grades will appear. Paperless Report Cards

If you would like to go to paperless report cards, please send Kami an email at kami.koecher@matsuk12.us and she will change the status in your ParentVUE account. Let's save some trees!

Communication is Key!

If you are not receiving communications such as Amigos messages or the bi-weekly Phoenix Flyer newsletter, please let Kami or Shawn know at the front desk and we'll get you added! The newsletter is also posted on the Fronteras website and the private Parents Page on Facebook. For active Facebook users there is a private Parents Page that is kept up to date daily with current information. Please also check with your child's teacher about being connected with Class DoJo!
