MARCH 2022 NEWSLETTER
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Happy March Lakeview Families!
I can't believe that we've arrived at the month of March! As we approach spring break and the final months of the school year, don't forget to take some time to unwind and reflect on all of the amazing things we've learned and grown from thus far. I am so very proud of the student growth we've seen during this school year!
Take care,
Ms. Tabor

MORNING DROP-OFF REMINDER
Please stay in the center lane between the orange cones when dropping off your student(s). We have had some parents drive around others when in line and this creates a potential danger to students crossing and/or exiting vehicles.
Keep in mind that if you have to get out of your vehicle to help your child(ren) get out, there are plenty of parking spots on the upper part of the parking lot.
Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and understanding!

A MESSAGE FROM MRS. COONS
Hello Lakeview Families!
We are currently implementing a program throughout our K-3 classrooms called Primary Education Thinking Skills, or P.E.T.S.
The P.E.T.S. Program introduces students to six characters, each with a special thinking strategy. These characters are:
Dudley the Detective- deductive logic
Sybil the Scientist- analytical thinking
Isabel the Inventor-inventive thinking
Yolanda the Yarnspinner-creative thinking
Max the Magician- visual perception
Jordan the Judge-evaluative thinking
The P.E.T.S program is delivered with a two-tiered approach. The first tier focuses on whole class enrichment activities for all students delivered by Mrs. Coons in each grade level classroom. Once the enrichment activities have taken place, all student work from these whole class lessons are evaluated. Students across the grade level who’ve demonstrated the greatest strength or talent with the thinking strategy presented, will participate in a small group. This small group time is intended to further develop their talent with that thinking skill. Additionally, the small groups are fluid and participation doesn’t necessarily mean a child will or will not be in future groups. Over the course of the school year there will be multiple opportunities for each child, in each grade level, to have experiences with a variety of these thinking skills and activities.
With this being the first round of lessons in a number of years due to COVID protocols, some modifications with scheduling and implementation have been discovered and a few changes will be made before the next set of sessions are scheduled. Your patience and understanding with this process is appreciated and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Kerri Coons
