Dear Team Gasper Families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend celebrating Mother's Day. Wow! It is hard to believe we only have 6 days left of this school year! I have loved having your kiddos this year and will miss them!

Thank you so much for the wonderful treats and gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week, last week. I was blown away with your kindness.

We have a busy week coming up with lots of learning, leading and fun!

Below is a lot of information. Please read through it carefully and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Please know I am working very hard to support your child this school year. I believe we can work together to continue to make this a great year for your first grader. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year please don't hesitate to contact me.

Field Day 2019 - THIS THURSDAY!

Field day will be on Thursday May 16th. We will have two sessions again this year. The morning session will be for K-2nd grade from 8:45-10:45am. The afternoon session will be for 3rd-5th grade from 1:00-3:00pm. We are in need of parent volunteers. All volunteers must have a background check already on file. They can help with their students time slot or the entire day if they’d like. Please let me know if you are interested in helping.

There will be a shirt signing station. If your child would like to have their shirt signed please let me know by Thursday morning. Without your permission, your child will not be able to have their shirt signed.

Enrollment Verifications Forms Due Back

Two weeks ago, students brought home the Enrollment Verification Forms for next school year. These forms will be used to update your information before summer break. Please return this forms ASAP. Thank you!

Book Buddy Bags Due Back

It is time to turn in the leveled books from the students' Book Buddy Bags. Please make sure you student has returned these school books. Thank you!

Spring Class Photos

Our Spring Class Photos are here! They are available for students to purchase for $5.00. If you would like to purchase one please send in $5.00 in cash. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

No Charge Breakfast/Lunch for May

As charging is not allowed the last month of school, please ensure your child has enough money in their meal account to cover breakfast, lunch, and/or extra milk. Beginning Wednesday, May 1st, a complimentary PB&J and milk is available for students not on free meals who have a negative meal balance. Meal balances can be checked via the parent portal or contacting the Schofield office at 732-3610.

Box Tops for Education

Our school collects Box Tops year round. If you have Box Tops at home please send them in at any time. Box Tops can be found on hundreds of product packages. Our school earn 10 cents for every Box Top, which adds up quickly!

Standards Based Grading

At Schofield Elementary, we use Standards Based Grading to monitor each student's understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards. Follow the link above to learn more about Standards Based Grading in RepMo.

School Improvement Plan

It is Schofield Elementary's goal to make sure more than 80% of students are proficient with Missouri Learning Standards for literacy and numeracy. Please read below to see what we are doing this week to meet this goal.


This week during Reading Workshop we will be reviewing a few different reading standards from this year.


This week during Writing Workshop we will continue our unit on how-to writing.

Word Work:

This week during Word Work we will be working on hearing the sound of a consonant digraph at the beginning of a word.


This week during Math Workshop we will be reviewing a few different math standards from this year.

Content (Science/Social Studies):

This week during Content we will be discussing Summer Safety.

Team Gasper Celebrations

Class Attendance Goal: 10 of 10 Days of Whole Class Attendance. We met our goal!! We will celebrate with donuts and a video this week.

Class Tiger Paw Goal: 35 of 50 Tiger Paws.

Schofield's Attendance Goal

Schofield's monthly attendance goal is 96%. Our attendance for the month of January was 95%.

Counselor Corner

From Schofield's K-2 Counselor, Ms. Pietruszynski (Ms. P):

During our next visit from Ms. Pietruszynski, students will learn about a variety of topics! Kindergarten students will explore feeling words and ways to express those feelings in a healthy way. 1st grade lessons will discuss perseverance and how to keep trying, even when things get hard. 2nd grade lessons will focus on conflict resolution and how to respectfully work through problems with one another through the use of “I” messages. As always, feel free to contact Ms. Pietruszynski with any questions/concerns you might have regarding your student. or 732-3610.
