Classroom News...

Dear Team Gasper Families,

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. We have a great week of learning, leading and fun ahead.


Below is a lot of information. Please read through it carefully and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.


Please know I will work very hard to support your child this school year. I believe we can work together to make this a great year for your first grader. If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year please don't hesitate to contact me.

Classroom Wish List...

SeeSaw Website...

Our class will utilize the SeeSaw Website this year for projects and communication. Each student has successfully connected to SeeSaw and brought home a letter explaining how parents can connect to their SeeSaw Journal.

October 2nd: No School (School Improvement Day for Teachers)

October 23rd: End of First Quarter

October 30th: No School (Fall Break)

Box Tops for Education...

Our school collects Box Tops year round. If you have Box Tops at home please send them in at any time. Box Tops can be found on hundreds of product packages. Our school earn 10 cents for every Box Top, which adds up quickly!

School Improvement Plan...

It is Schofield Elementary's goal to make sure more than 80% of students are proficient with Missouri Learning Standards for literacy and numeracy. Please read below to see what we are doing this week to meet this goal.


Reading:

This week during Reading Workshop we will begin our unit on Fiction and Non-Fiction texts.


Writing:

This week during Writing Workshop we will finish our unit on foundations of first grade writing.


Word Work:

This week during Word Work we will be working to identify the features of each letter.


Math:

This week during Math Workshop we will continue our unit on Partners of 10.


Science/Social Studies:

This week during Social Studies we will finish our unit on Citizenship with identifying rules and laws.

Standards Based Grading

At Schofield Elementary, we use Standards Based Grading to monitor each student's understanding of the Missouri Learning Standards. Follow the link above to learn more about Standards Based Grading in RepMo.

Counselor Corner...

During our next visit from Ms. Pietruszynski, students will learn about a variety of topics! Lessons will focus on recognizing basic feelings, how things we do make others feel, and how to be a good friend.
