Hawk Families:

Thank you to the parents/families who attended Parent/Teacher Conferences this week. We had an excellent turnout! We also appreciate your support of the Book Fair. To ensure we continue to meet the needs of our families, we would love to hear your feedback on conferences through the 2021 Fall Conference Parent Survey.

Please mark your calendars for the PTO Fall Festival on October 23 from 12:30-4:30 p.m.! We hope to see you there. In addition, review the other important dates and information provided below. Please do not hesitate to reach out to the school if you have any questions.

October 11: Clubs Begin

October 11 - 15: Kindness Week at BECS!

BECS staff will catch students displaying kindness to others. When students are caught being kind (opening a door for others, helping another student that is upset, assisting another student with a math problem, etc... The teacher will reward them with a leaf that will be added to our Kindness Tree displayed on the wall outside of the office. Please encourage your children to spread a lot of kindness so we can watch our kindness tree grow throughout the week!

October 13: Costa Rica Trip Info Meeting

Attention 6th and 7th Grade Parents, your child is invited to travel to Costa Rica with us during the summer of 2023! We will be holding an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 13th in the school auditorium at 6:30 pm. Priority is given to those who attend the meeting. October 18-22: Spirit Week

Let's celebrate a week of meeting new people, being kind, being respectful, and learning how to care for others while dressing up in fun outfits! Students are able to wear appropriate denim bottoms during spirit week with an approved uniform top if they are not participating with the spirit day theme. Students who are participating can also wear denim bottoms along with theme attire according to the day. If you have questions, please get in touch with Ms. Tasha Nichols.

  • Monday (10/18) - Wear a "Hello My Name is ..." tag and say HI to new people while wearing your favorite Disney or Marvel attire.
  • Tuesday (10/19) - While wearing your favorite Tie-Dye and Crazy Hair outfit, give out encouraging compliments to people at BECS!
  • Wednesday (10/20) - "Kindness Always Wins!" Wear your favorite winning team jersey/shirt for Sports Day while showing random acts of kindness throughout the day.
  • Thursday (10/21) - "See Something, Say Something!" Wear your sunglasses with your favorite 80s Day attire while learning about conflict resolutions and how not to be a bystander.
  • Friday (10/22) - "No one eats or plays alone." Make it your job to smile, be friendly, and hang out with new people. Show BEING KIND in your favorite "Modified Dress" attire.

October 20: Sports Photos

Volleyball and Soccer will have sports photos after school on October 20th. Coaches will be in contact with more details.

October 22: Picture Retakes

Did you miss the last picture session or do not like the picture you purchased? Bring the photos and turn them in to the photographer and get a new picture taken. Pictures will be taken on October 22nd. This is a modified dress day for all students. There is a field trip that day however we will schedule students on the trip before or after their trip.

October 23: PTO Fall Festival

BECS PTO & Middle School Leadership hosts a Fall Festival and Haunted Hallway on Saturday, October 23rd from 12:30 - 4:30 p.m. There will be pumpkins, family photos, dunk tanks, food trucks, face painting, games, prizes, and more! Presale tickets are now available for $9 day of. Costumes encouraged! LINK TO PURCHASE TICKETS

Student CMAS results were distributed during Fall Conferences and are also available through the Parent Portal on Infinite Campus. Last year, students in grades 3, 5 & 7 were tested in English Language Arts and those in grades 4, 6 & 8 in Math. To view your child’s scores through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal please follow these directions. The following documents can also assist with understanding the CMAS test and interpreting your child’s results.


Thank you families, for all of your support with our Scholastic Book Fair! If you were unable to attend our in person shopping, you can still purchase books online through Scholastic by clicking here until October 17th.

Learning Cycle Break Day Program

Our next learning cycle break is October 25th - 29th. We will once again be offering a day program on the 27th, 28th, and 29th. Here is a link to the information letter. There is a link to the registration form in the information letter. Registration will close on Wednesday, October 13th.


Mesh masks are not approved by the Tri-County Health Department. Approved face coverings are made of cloth, fabric, or other soft or permeable material, without holes covering only the nose and mouth and surrounding areas of the lower face.


Holidays can be a difficult time for families. If you feel your family could benefit from a Thanksgiving basket please reach out to our counselors, Ms. Renee Atkins or Ms. Shannon Young. Our PTO is preparing for the holidays and would like to assist our BECS families in need.

We're Hiring

BECS has the following positions available:

  • Elementary Art (K - 5)

  • 8th grade paraprofessional

  • In house substitute

  • K-8 Substitute (As Needed Basis)

Details can be found here. Applicants for the Elementary Art position do not need to have a teaching credential. BECS can provide support and a pathway toward the substitute licensure needed for this position.
