Copyright and Fair Use Guidelines
Define Copyright - Copyright is a form of protection that United States law gives the creators of original professional works, such as books, music, artwork and films. Copyright law gives copyright owners the majority right to reproduce, distribute, perform, display or license their work.
Define Fair Use - The right to reproduce a small part of a copyrighted work for eductional other no-for-profit purposes wihout having to obtain permission or pay a royalty fee.
Guidelines of Fair Use
Students are taught in school that they can use experts from anoher person's work provided they give proper credit or documentation. This use of copyrighted material is called fair use. Fai Use is generally limited to educational copying and is very limited in the commercial or business world.Some professionals may use it in situations such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, ad research.
