A quick note from the principal's desk...
Good Afternoon RPI Families,
We had another great week this past week and our kids learned so much. Check out our Facebook page to see the fun! There is a link below.
Lots of information below, so I'll keep this section short this week!
Don't forget to have your kids participate in Spirit Week this week...and we have a twist for our Rocket Virtual students.
Have a great week everybody! Go Rockets!

The Positivity Project (P2) Post
Our students will turn their attention inward this week to consider how open-minded they are to new ideas, viewpoints and others personal experiences. There is a great quote in our 5th grade slides for the week: "Those who cannot change their minds, cannot change anything." When I think about kids at this age, they have such an ability to be influenced by those around them and the conversations they are having at school.
Working off the open-mindedness strength, how can we model open-mindedness for our students? What conversations can you have to support this week? Click on the family resources below to see how.

ROCKET VIRTUAL UPDATES…
🚀Curriculum Corner --- MAKE SURE YOU READ THIS!!
We want to remind families that have chosen the virtual platform that this is about what works best for your student and your family.
Edmentum is supplying the curriculum and R-P is providing the mentor support, but the overall importance of this is the individuality that is allowed for each student.
We want the student to go at their own pace and be able to choose what they want to focus on from a day-to-day basis. Here are some examples...
If your student chooses to only focus daily on ELA and Math with some Science and/or Social Studies thrown in every few days, that is okay!
If there is a project in ELA and that is your only focus for a few days, that is okay!
If you need a break from your specials(Art, Music, PE) and don’t log into them for a few days, that is okay!
A reminder that K-6 is not held to the “credit” system like our 7-12th grade students, so we are allowed this flexibility to what is best for our 5th & 6th-grade students. This has also been communicated to the Edmentum teachers.
It was also decided this week that our 6th-grade students will NOT be required to take any final exams at the end of the semester.
🚀Live Information/Question/Answer Meetings
Edmentum will be offering Zoom meetings this week for any student/parent that would like to join. The Edmentum staff will plan to share some helpful information about navigating the site along with curriculum-based information. They will also allow time for questions.
5th-Grade will be on Thursday, Oct. 8th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm
6th-Grade will be on Thursday, Oct. 8th from 5:00 - 6:00 pm
🚀Attendance
It is a requirement from the state level that we have 2-way communication with all of our Rocket Virtual Students.
When you receive your weekly communication from your Rocket Mentor your student or you MUST reply to the mentor that you have received it and/or answer specific questions that they may ask within a google form.
This is how we account for your student “being present”. It is our responsibility to maintain that communication not only for state pupil accounting purposes but also for monitoring the well-being of our Rockets!
