Principal's Message
Great evening fantastic families,
This past week was awesome on campus, and we had many reasons to be thankful. This week we had many parent volunteers who came in to work on Tuesday folders, assist with Pre-K, and the volunteers for the fall feast. Our scholars really enjoyed the afternoon snack adjustment. Tuesday night our 6th grade orchestra students performed in a Winter concert at Westwood Junior High School. Wednesday, we had our first flag program meeting, where more than 20 students learn the proper way to fold and raise the American Flag. Thursday our third graders put on a stellar Broadway production which really lifted the school to finish the week in the strongest way. We are sorry we were not able to conduct the evening performance, but it is tentatively rescheduled for December 1st, 2022. Of all the things we are thankful for, we are most thankful for the amazing student body and parent community here at HPPM. We hope everyone can enjoy the family time while recharging for the final three weeks of the Fall semester. We are excited to serve this amazing community and thank you for choosing Richardson ISD & Hamilton Park Pacesetter Magnet. #GREATnessHappensHere!

Health Services Update
Health Services Update
Dallas County Health and Human Services reached out to school district Health Services Directors last week issuing a warning regarding the next several months. DCHHS said, “we are seeing an upturn in flu and flu-like illness in the county. We are anticipating an unfavorable flu season this year and a possibility of a tridemic – Influenza, RSV and COVID.”
DCHHS is once again requiring ISD’s to report flu or flu-like illness, as well as reporting weekly COVID numbers. Throughout the last three years, ISD’s were only required to report COVID data.
RISD is observing a steady increase across the district in absences and students who are ill with flu-like illness. The campus nurses, health services leadership, and administration remain proactive in reminding staff and students of the importance of good and frequent hand washing and keeping all air purifiers turned on in classrooms and common spaces.
If your child is experiencing flu-like symptoms, please keep your child at home and notify your campus nurse.
According to DCHHS, the best protection against the flu virus is the flu vaccine. The flu vaccine is recommended for almost everyone except children younger than six months old. Flu vaccine locations can be found here: https://www.dallascounty.org/departments/dchhs/immunization-hours.php
State of Texas Kits Now Available to Parents
State of Texas Kits Now Available to Parents
Texas law (S.B. 2158) requires school districts to make inkless, in-home fingerprint and DNA identification kits available to parents or guardians of elementary and junior high students, upon request.
Parents may complete a kit to keep at home to provide to law enforcement authorities if assistance is ever needed to locate and return a missing child.
This program is an optional tool for parents to keep at home. Kits should not be returned to any RISD school or employee. Parents or guardians interested in an in-home fingerprint and DNA identification kit should contact their elementary or junior high school’s front office.
Please visit the Texas School Safety Center website for more information.
