Highlights from the Hallways

Mustang Message

We have LOTS to Celebrate: Come Celebrate with Us!

In our monthly Highlights from the Hallways, we will be spotlighting students and staff members who have gone above and beyond, made great choices, been a kind friend or anything else that deserves some extra special recognition. We hope that we can share these celebrations with you and you can talk about these around the kitchen table, in the car, or at the end of the night when you are tucking your kiddo into bed. Thank you for following along with our journey to be the best friend, student, and person we can be, each and every day! It's a GREAT day to be a MUSTANG!

After your child opens their Magnificent Mustang Mail, please take a picture and send it to Mrs. Sherrill at kendra.sherrill@claudeisd.net so we can celebrate them at school too!

Annual Turkey Trot

On Your Mark, Get Set, Turkey Trot

Big Shoutout to PTO for purchasing $20 gift cards to Johnny's Hometown Foods for the top girl and boy runner from each grade level PK-12. These kids were able to help their families purchase their Thanksgiving meal and hopefully snag a snack for themselves for their hard work! Good job runners!

1st Annual Bike, Walk and Bus Safety Week

With so many kids walking and riding their bikes to school each day, it is so important to ensure that our students know how to be safe during these activities. This week, we set aside some time to teach our students critical safety skills when riding a bus, walking on the street, and riding their bikes.

In PE, Coach Lemons helped his students navigate through an obstacle course in the high school parking lot and the High School Ag students in Mr. Franks 7th period class put on a bike 'clinic' to give the student's bikes a check up to make sure they were in good working order. Our GT students helped students through the clinic assembly line. We played Safety Bingo and Caller Number 9 trivia to add to the fun!

Thanks to Cornell Dirt Service and Graphic Ink, we were able to raffle off 4 bikes to students in our community! We were also able to provide helmets to many of our students with help from Mrs. Peden and Agrilife Extension.

Huge Shoutout to everyone who helped put this week together! We are so passionate about the healthy and safety of our students and hope they use some of their new knowledge to stay safe when riding around town!
