Doss Reminders
CELEBRATION:
Monday May 15th - let's celebrate those who are going to retire and those who are moving on from Doss from 3:15-4:00. A community celebration will continue from 4- 5pm all in the Jane Willis Library.
PPfT EVALUATIONS:
We are in the process of finalizing all of your PPfT evaluations. You are able to waive your summative conference if you like. If we need to meet with you for the summative, we will let you know next week. If you WANT to meet with us for a summative, please just email us and we will set that up.
FALCO: The Flower and Lemonade Company. Open May 15-18 right after school until 3:10 by the bike racks in front of the cafeteria and at the amphitheater. Beautiful hand painted flower pots for $5.00 and cold refreshing lemonade for 50 cents. Help Mrs. Smith's second graders be successful in their business venture!
ISIP EOY TESTING WINDOW:
The deadline for testing is May the 19th. Please let Leah know if you need help with testing or interpreting results.
GRADES:
Report card posting window opens Wednesday May 17, 7:00 am and closes May 25 at 6:00 pm. Please make sure that there are no surprises for parents. If a child's grades have dropped significantly, make sure that you have addressed that with the parents.
KRONOS TRAINING:
KRONOS training will be provided to all staff that clock in and out. This includes all TAs, retire/rehires, and office staff. (Custodians and cafeteria staff are not included in this round of training). Doss is scheduled to receive this training on May 17th from 3:15-4:15 in the Doss Jane Willis Library. KRONOS is our new time keeping system.
READING INTERVENTION/TAKE FLIGHT:
All pull out reading groups end on Friday 5/12. Students will be pulled this week for assessment and parent reports will be sent home shortly after. It may work best for the reports to be attached to grades when they are sent home on the 1st of June. Leah will be putting end of the year letters in your boxes as well, so please keep an eye out for those and send them home with students when you get them.
TALENT SHOW:
What are you doing for the talent show? Make sure that you let Christina know what you are doing for the staff talent show. Your kids want to see you shine! Let's do this!
OWL'S NEST:
Do you have a student or family in need of clothing/shoes? We want any needy student at Doss to have the opportunity to come "shop" in the Owl's Nest before the summer break. Please send the name of these students to Shanna Riggsbee, and we will set up a time for them to come to the Owl's Nest.
DOSS OWL SPIRIT BLOUSE:
Get EXCITED because you can now buy a limited edition, beautifully embroidered Doss Owl Spirit Blouse for the 2017-2018 school year and REALLY let your DOSS PRIDE SHOW! These custom blouses have been made exclusively for Doss and can be purchased at a special discounted price of $40/each for all Doss teachers and staff members. Deadline to order is Friday, June 30th. All blouses will be delivered to Doss and distributed to you upon your return to school the week of August 14th. Sample sizes will be available in the Teachers’ Lounge by the end of the week, so stop by if you would like to have a better idea of what size you should order. Purchasing a blouse is completely optional and you will still receive your complimentary Doss spirit t-shirt at the beginning of the school year. Please do not share this link with anyone other than teachers and staff at Doss due to the discounted pricing.

COUNSELOR CORNER
"Being truly HERE is very important - being HERE for yourself and for the ones you love. Fortunately, being HERE is not a difficult thing to accomplish. It is enough to breathe, and let go of thinking or planning. Just come back to yourself, concentrate on your breath, and smile. You are HERE, body and mind together. You are HERE, you are completely alive. That is a miracle." -Thich Nhat Hanh
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! TO THE ENTIRE CAMPUS FOR A VERY SUCCESSFUL STAAR TESTING WEEK!

COMPUTER LAB NEWS
The Computer Lab will be closed for AAPPL (Chinese testing) May 16-19. They have test sessions in both the morning and afternoon so the lab will be closed all day. We have a class set of Chromebooks you can check out during May 16-19 if you want to do the Reading ISIP benchmarks in your room.
Doss PTA paid for a campus 3-D printer and it is setup in the computer lab. I can show you how to use the software and help with the actual printing. My plan is to set up some grade specific lessons in BLEND over the summer that teachers can use next year. You should also think about how you might want to use this with your class next year. Please let me know if you would like more info on how the printer works or if you have any questions. We hope to finalize the spending of the Doss PTA tech funds by the end of this year and have several new items to share with you for next year.
The last day for computer lab this school year will be May 25th.
