Background
Simudzai Mureza wedu WeZimbabwe is the national anthem and Robert Mugabe is the current president of Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe is a semi-presidential republic which is similar to a democracy. The capital, Harare, was originally called Salisbury, after the british prime minister. The country used to be a very rich and prosperous country, but now Zimbabwe has the lowest life expectancy in the world. They became an independent country on April 18, 1980 from british rule.

About 60 to 70 percent of people in Zimbabwe are mainstream western Christian, while everyones else is other religions such as catholic or muslim. They have religious freedom so that you can be any religion you want and not be persecuted.

The name Zimbabwe is based on the Shona term for “Great Zimbabwe”; an ancient ruined city in the country’s south east whose remains are now a protected site.
