Spiritual Reflection
By Sheila O’Callaghan
November, the month of harvest, is coming to a close. We sense there is delight and joy because we are looking forward to “Thanksgiving”, our great American holiday. It will give people an opportunity to celebrate God’s goodness to all of us. It is also a time that God wants us to share with others, especially those in need. We should take time to prepare for this beautiful American holiday. What blessings are you going to thank God for? Do not forget to help your family keep this celebration. Thanksgiving is a national day of thanksgiving and a day we celebrate the loving kindness of our God.
Remember God does not give us anything without asking us to share that gift with others. Here is an example: at St. Ann School we are given a Missions casual day once a month. The money you donate on each Missions casual day always goes towards helping and sharing with others. For the past few months, we have given the proceeds from the Missions casual days to the children of Ukraine.
On November 21, we remember the Presentation of Mary in the temple. It is believed this may be a legend that Mary was presented to God by her parents when she was three. She was sent to the temple to live. This may not be a true story, but it shows Mary’s special closeness to God.
St. Cecilia is remembered on November 22. She is the patron saint of music and musicians. St. Cecilia has inspired people to write music in praise of God. Thank musicians for making the world a better place because of their music.
November 27, will be the first Sunday of Advent. For four weeks we will prepare for the second coming of Jesus. This is good news and we believe Jesus will come again.
Please pray for the sick, especially Fr. Mink, Fr. Jasper’s mom, Remo Vallejo, Patrick Flanagan, and all the sick of our parish. Please also pray for our First Responders and Armed Forces.
Thank You & Congratulations!
Principal Bella and Principal AJ took it upon themselves to deliver beautiful bouquets of flowers to all staff, and they granted staff two additional casual days on November 21 & 22!
Principal Bella and Principal AJ also negotiated a special Student Appreciation Day on Tuesday, December 6. On this day, students will have the option to order lunch from Chick-Fil-A through Yay Lunch!, an additional snack and dessert will be provided to all students at lunch, students will be able to wear their PJs to school (no donations required), and teachers are prohibited from assigning homework that day!
GREAT JOB!
