Great Kindness Challenge
January 26-30,2015
Are you up to the challenge?
The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness on campuses nationwide . Our school is proudly participating in this proactive, positive bullying prevention initiative. All students will receive a GKC checklist with 50 kind deeds. Please send this info home. Please encourage your students to complete this checklist and show the world that KINDNESS MATTERS!
Classroom Guidance
Anna and I will team teach this week. All classes will be held in the enrichment classroom. Students will participate in kindness stations.
Guinness Book of World Records
Glenwood students will make a hand print with a heart in the middle to symbolize their commitment to kindness. They will be completing this project during Classroom Guidance. Anna and I will gather all handprints and mail them to the Guinness World Records Officials.
We would love for our staff to participate as well. The guidelines are as follows:
- draw and cut out one hand from each staff or student.
- each handprint must have a heart on it.
- decorate your handprint with words or pictures
- you may use paint, pencils, crayons or markers
Please place your finished handprint in my box. We will need all staff handprints no late than Feb. 6 so we have time to count and send to Guinness World Records. Every kind-hearted handprint collected will be a reminder to us all that KINDNESS MATTERS!
Kindness Starts With Me
School-wide project - How are you kind to yourself?
Being kind to ourselves allows us to more easily be kind to others. One of our kindness stations will be for all students to create a kindness portrait - a picture of themselves being kind. We will create grade level kindness quilts.
I would like for each staff member to create a kindness portrait as well. I will place a 3x5 index card in your box. Think about how you can be kind to yourself. What do you do for self-care: eating healthy, exercising , drinking water, etc? Draw yourself doing something kind for yourself. Please place in my box by Friday, Feb.6, 2015 . We will make a staff kindness quilt.
