HFRCS Newsletter SY2021-2022
November 2, 2021 - Volume 1 Issue 11
From the Principal's Office
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today our school welcomed Father Michael, the new Parochial Administrator at Queen of the Universe Parish. Father was able to meet the faculty, staff and students of our school as he toured the building and visited classrooms. We are pleased to meet Father Michael and look forward to working with him this school year!
This week, our teachers are scheduling Parent Teacher Conferences. This is an excellent time for teachers to share with our parents how their child is doing in school, their strengths and weaknesses, and answer any questions parents may have. Although it is a short period of time to meet, much can be accomplished. To make the most of your conference, please arrive on time, knock on the door at your designated time, and please wear a mask upon entering the school. Our teachers are looking forward to meeting you!
Later this month, our school will be sharing our first Safe Environment lesson at all grade levels. Student personal safety is our highest priority. These lessons affirm, review, and remind students about how to identify an unsafe situation and where to go for help. In today’s newsletter, there is an “opt out” form for parents who do not wish their child to participate in this important lesson.
Friday is the last day for donations to our 2021 Hawk Walk. We are very grateful for all who participated in this year’s Walk. The online donation platform will close on Friday, November 5.
During the month of November, we are reminded of the church’s mission to pray for our beloved dead. November also calls us to be grateful for all of God’s blessings and to help those in need. As part of the 8th grade Living Saints Museum that students will visit next week, we are asking for donations of canned goods and non-perishable items. Our school is always pleased to provide complete Thanksgiving dinners for families in need in our school and parish communities. Thank you in advance for your generous support!
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Mrs. Haggerty
Father Michael Mullan
Father Michael hails from a family of ten children. Father Michael was born in Prospect Park, PA. He was baptized in Notre Dame de Lourdes parish in Swarthmore and at a young age his family moved to Elkton, MD where he grew up. After graduating High School at Salesianum in Wilmington, DE he entered the seminary of the Legionaries of Christ. This congregation focuses on the formation of lay people and retreat work. Father Michael spent most of his seminary training in Europe: Germany, Spain, and Italy. He was ordained a priest in 2006 at St. Mary Major's Basilica in Rome, Italy. As a priest he served as a director of the Faith and Family Centre in Dublin, Ireland which offered retreats, faith courses, marriage prep programs, and family activities in support of living out the faith. In 2014, Father Michael discerned the call to begin parish work becoming a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He has served so far as Parochial Vicar at St. Stanislaus in Lansdale, St. Agnes in West Chester, St. Martin of Tours in Philadelphia and most recently at St. Joseph in Aston. I hope that each of our families had a fun and frightful Halloween! Sharing candy with the Enrollment Office is always appreciated!
Please keep your eyes peeled for a satisfaction survey that will be shared in this newsletter over the coming weeks. We are hoping to use some of the responses for marketing materials, but more importantly, we are eager and excited to hear your voice and find new ways to improve the community and culture of Holy Family!
Reminders:
- Enrollment for the 2022-23 school year opens in January but if you plan on enrolling another child, please feel free to let us know as soon as possible. Thank you!
- Holy Family's Referral Program is a great way to grow our school community while taking at least $200 off of your tuition tab for the school year. Remember, there is no limit to the amount of times a family can utilize the referral program!
