Follow your Dreams! (Martin Luther King)

This special event takes an up close look at an American hero, Martin Luther King Jr. His background information will be explored along with the heroic actions he endeavored throughout his life. Students will learn the significance of Martin Luther King Day and discuss how this hero has impacted their lives.

Grades 3-5


If anyone has a class interested in participating in the Martin Luther King Jr. session, request this video conference through CILC or register your class directly from the MVESC scheduling system.


Cost: $85.00 per site /30 student maximum per session (MVESC DL members – FREE with current membership)

More Than an ELA Assessment - Reading and Writing Across the Curriculum

Students face new challenges with Ohio’s New State Tests. Well-developed reading and writing skills are critical to student success in all content areas. Students at all grade levels are challenged with analyzing readings and developing analytical essays within a variety of content areas, raising the depth of thinking at a much higher level. Students need more opportunities to practice the higher level of language skills at these higher levels of thinking. There are high expectations for reading and writing tasks using science and social studies text. More interdisciplinary projects and purposeful writing throughout the curriculum will need to be incorporated in order for students to be prepared. Read More.

Using sign language with young children has been shown to enhance early learning experiences across content areas, from literacy, language, and communication, to social-emotional development. But how do you incorporate it into your daily routine? This session will focus in daily routines and simple commands. From “line-up” to “sit-down”. Discover simple signs you can use with your students the next day in the classroom.
