PSP GATOR GAB December 2017 *

What's the perfect gift? A book of course!

Please join us for our annual Barnes & Noble fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 9th! Story times with our favorite teachers will be announced soon -- and our favorite librarian, Lisa Eck, will be dressed as the Gingerbread Woman and reading stories to our little Gators!

Our astounding Gator Choir will be performing at 12:00pm & 1:00pm. Visit Santa from 1:30-3:45pm, and be sure to snap a picture! Gift wrapping is available with all donations going to the AGC to support our classrooms and school.

What a splendid afternoon! Please be on the lookout for the

Barnes & Noble Flyer coming home soon.

We asked our Gator teacher:

What does the AGC (Annual Giving Campaign) mean to you and your classroom?

"Every year the Annual Giving Campaign funds go into our classrooms in many different ways. Last year, I was able to purchase books, models, and supplies that has helped to enrich our Core Knowledge curriculum. This allowed students to become more engaged with the curriculum; it was also another way to support our GATE community. One item I purchased with the funds was a Human Body doll where the students could perform surgery and explore the systems that we introduce in our Human Body Domain. I was also able to purchase slides and small microscopes, which allows students to explore and understand more about Anton van Leeuwenhoek's work. The students last year became more excited about science and about how the body works due to the generous donations from our families. This year, I am looking forward to purchasing more STEM and Domain enrichment activities to continue to foster a love of science and more!" Danielle Hobbs, 2nd grade teacher.

Hey, Turkey!

Gateway's annual food drive was a blockbuster event! This was the third year students collected turkeys as well as food, and boy, do our families know how to collect turkeys!

The student leadership team created fun themed days and genuinely got students interested in helping needy families. Thank you to the leadership team for putting this compassionate event together, thank you teachers and staff for your encouragement, and a ENORMOUS thank you to all of the families who donated!

Now for the good stuff -- the grand total for turkeys this year was....205! Now that's a lot of turkeys!

In comparison from years past:

school year 2015/2016 = 101 turkeys
school year 2016/2017 = 123 turkeys
this year 2017/2018 = 205 turkeys

More information coming soon on food donation totals :)
don't forget to donate to the AGC!

We need YOUR support to enable fun events to continue!
